Sloping off to the Surrey countryside for some peace and quiet but still want to be within striking distance of town amenities when you need them? Barnyard Campsite could well be the place – this very quiet site is part of a family farm about five minutes’ drive from Lingfield town centre. Pitches have been set up on a 7.6-acre field in the middle of the farm, with stunning rural views all around. It’s a particularly peaceful location, so it’s a great little spot for people looking to get back to nature. It’s a simple setup here, with basic facilities that include portable toilets but not showers, and dogs allowed to come along and join your break. Barbecues are permitted on site here, and there’s a small supermarket in Lingfield where you can pick up supplies. Alternatively, stick around in town for a pub dinner or a meal at one of several Indian restaurants. For days out, the site is very close to Lingfield’s racecourse and golf club, or you can pay visits to Hever Castle, Chartwell and Royal Tunbridge Wells. There are lots of good walks around too, as the edge of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is close by. Alternatively, it’s a rather fine idea to see some of the scenery in style while riding the Bluebell Railway from East Grinstead (10 minutes’ drive).
