Liked: The welcome was lovely and the views spectacular. We got to see the sunset over the cliffs and sea, and then an amazing night's sky! There was so much space, it felt like we were the only people there! A great opportunity for wild camping.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Friendly welcome, loads of space, back to basics camping, amazing views. Pitched up in the wooded area (there are also large open fields) with lots of room to spread out. Excellent night sky views and a campfire made for a peaceful, relaxing evening. Facilities (compost loos) are well maintained and stocked with loo roll. Instructions are displayed inside and simple to follow. Collect your water from the tap on the way into the camping fields if you don’t fancy a long walk. Great value if you want simple camping. Loved it.

Disliked: Nothing (bring a camp shower and enough water carriers if you’re staying for more than a couple of days) 😁

Liked: Great view from the cliff and quiet atmosphere, spacious so a lot of space and privacy.

Disliked: Beautiful camping experience, but the Isle of Sheppey itself is a place where I would never go back to. Desolate and sad. Not wild/remote/desolate. Just sad/desolate

Local attractions

If you’ve picked a place called Clifftop Camping it’s highly likely you’ll be after a bit of coast action. The quickest way to get it is to clamber down the cliffs (easier than it might sound; no abseiling needed) for a quiet little beach with some fab sea fishing to be done. Other options nearby include Minster Leas beach (10 minutes’ drive) and Shellness beach (20 minutes), where there's also a naturist area for folk seeking a skinny dip. Active types are well sorted for things to keep them busy too: saddle up at the stables five minutes away, tee off at Sheerness Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive) or breeze over to Barton's Point Coastal Park (10 minutes) for a nature trail, adventure playground and watersports. For a nod to travels of the past, it’s off to Eastchurch Aviation Museum (five minutes) or a narrow-gauge ride on the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway (20 minutes). Doddington Place Gardens are just over half an hour away if you’re more interested in gentle wanderings.
