  • Peaceful farm site on the edge of 2,000 acres of ancient woodland
  • A mile and a half from Honey Hill and two miles from Blean
  • Direct access to Blean Woods National Nature Reserve
Come and pitch up at Brook Farm Glamping and Camping for days full of strolling, den building and bike riding in Blean Woods, a 2,000-acre national nature reserve that backs directly onto the farm. This small-scale site is an eco-friendly place, with innovative solutions like solar-powered lighting and a composting toilet, plus upcycled washing machines that have been given a second life as barbecues and firepits. There are also cute animals here that the kids can meet, including rabbits, sheep, goats and miniature chickens. There's a good range of facilities on offer here, with well-maintained showers, toilets and a washing-up area. A selection of local produce is also available on site, or for a wider variety of food and drinks you could head to the nearest pub in Honey Hill (five minutes' drive) or to the village stores in Blean (five minutes). Holidays here will probably involve frequent trips to the beach, as Brook Farm Glamping and Camping is 15 minutes from Whitstable and half an hour from Margate by road. There are also inland attractions to explore, including the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes) and the historic cathedral city of Canterbury (15 minutes). As long as they're OK with all the other animals that call this place home and are kept on leads, dogs are very welcome to join you at Brook Farm Glamping and Camping.

Liked: The animals on the farm were a lovely touch, Pitch length was good

Disliked: Toilet / Shower facilities, poor drainage and strong uncomfortable smell from washing up facilities. Toilets are shared, urine on the floor, and showers go cold every 5 seconds. Gate requires manual open and close . Should be more secure as strangers can get in unnoticed Poor electric pitch choices - only 6 available at front of site Sign says report to Office, however no office was seen.

Liked: We had a wonderful experience at the campsite. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The peaceful atmosphere of the campsite allowed us to truly relax and unwind, and we loved exploring the nearby woodland walks. The highlight of our stay was definitely the chance to interact with the friendly animals on the campsite, from the playful Goats to the curious chickens. Overall, our time at the campsite was truly memorable and we can't wait to return.

Liked: The owners were super friendly and welcoming. Pizzas being cooked as we arrived. Little cafe on site providing toasties, great coffee and freshly homemade cake. The washing machine drum fire pits with honesty box for wood. The amount of space between the tents. Well behaved children and considerate campers. No big, noisy groups! Great location very close to Whitstable and Canterbury.

Disliked: Only 3 of the washing up sinks were working and it was a bit cramped to use all 3 at the same time.

Liked: It was good value for money. It was nice having a few farm animals on the site you could see in their large pens. We went with another family and the owner helped us find a spot we could go together as we both had electric hook up.

Disliked: The showers have those annoying push buttons that turn off too quickly, I know it is to save water. Very little internet signal not that it should matter on holiday but frustrating when expecting important emails/calls.

Local attractions

Build a den, follow a trail or fly a kite in the Kent Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that can be reached in about 10 minutes by road. Next, explore the more carefully managed landscapes on show at Belmont House and Gardens (20 minutes' drive), or prep a picnic for lunch on the beach at Whitstable (15 minutes). A little bit further up the coast, Margate (30 minutes) has art galleries, independent shops and fab contemporary restaurants to explore, while Broadstairs (35 minutes), one of Charles Dickens' favourite haunts, has old-world appeal with its cliffs, Victorian buildings and three separate bays. Away from the coast, Leeds Castle (25 minutes) has an impressive moat, fortress and well-maintained grounds to visit, while Dover Castle (30 minutes) has centuries of maritime history plus tunnels in the cliff face to explore. For more things to see and do, you'll be sorted in Canterbury (15 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site city where top tourist sites include Canterbury Cathedral, St Augustine’s Abbey and the Canterbury Tales attraction, an interactive exhibit that brings Chaucer's stories to life.
