  • Small family-run campsite set in woodland alongside the River Medway
  • Leeds Castle and Bewl Water Aqua Park both 25 minutes’ drive
  • Water sports, walking and biking from the pitches; licensed café
Set in four acres of woodland bordering the River Medway and 15 minutes’ drive from Tonbridge in Kent, Branbridges Leisure is a small family-run site with all sorts of camping and glamping options to suit all sorts of people – and their dogs, of course. And once you get there, you’ll discover there are all sorts of things to do around and about the site too; it’s on the Medway Canoe Trail – a huge draw for water-sports enthusiasts who can kayak and splash around to their heart’s content. Bring your own gear (a small launch fee is applied) or hire everything on site. Walkers and cyclists can follow the Medway Valley Walk along the river right from their pitches – with the added bonus that there are many pubs for refreshment stops along the way. The site also includes a small fishing lake stocked with carp, roach, perch and chub as well as a stretch along the banks of the Medway. The fishing is free for all campsite guests. When you need an energy boost after all that activity, head for the licensed on-site café serving locally sourced menus and eat overlooking the river. Prefer self-catering? Bring your own barbecues (the café can supply barbecue packs) and firepits, or hire them on site, where you can buy buckets of wood, along with camping essentials, in the pop-up shop. For anything else, there’s a small convenience store opposite the site.

Unpowered forest floor tent site (woodland)

Liked We (family of 5, kids 15,9 & 5) had an incredible stay at this amazing campsite! The fishing lake was a real highlight, offering tranquil waters teeming with high quality fish, perfect for relaxing afternoons. The access to the Medway River is fantastic, providing plenty of opportunities for kayaking, swimming, or just enjoying the stunning riverside views.

The on-site cafe serves fantastic locally produced food, which was a real treat — delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared. My kids loved interacting with the friendly chickens and goat, adding a charming farmyard touch to the experience.

There are loads of fun games and activities tailored for children, ensuring they’re entertained for hours. The woodland and field pitches are spacious and well-maintained, offering a perfect spot to settle in and enjoy nature.

Overall, this campsite blends outdoor adventure, tranquility, and great local food, making it an ideal escape for families and nature lovers alike. cannot wait to come back and stay again Highly recommended!

Unpowered forest floor tent site (woodland)

Liked Really easy access to the river for kayaking, friendly owner and good sized camping plots in a nice wooded area

Disliked Showers are £1 for 3 minutes!! Never have I ever been to a campsite that has this, there is also one toilet for all which is ridiculous.

My kids were playing in the activity area and there were two older kids zooming around them on electric bikes pulling wheelies! It’s a campsite not a racetrack, not only was it ridiculously dangerous and stupid to do but it was okay’d by someone who owns the place as they were their kids, doesn’t take much to realise that’s not okay.

Worst night sleeps I have ever had, right near a main road and every night all I could hear from 3am onwards were cars racing. No fault of the campsite but it was unbearable and my family decided to leave a day early, bring ear defenders.

From the manager: Thanks for your review. I would like to address this point by point:

You was given 12 minutes of free showers (£4) due to not having any change and me stupidly taking pity on you and your son. There are also 3 toilets, all of which you were shown by myself on check in.

I also played with your son numerous times during your stay and also helped him with a blister on his foot from his crocs and dressed it for him whilst you was on a call and repeatedly said to him "in a minute" when he wanted your help. I also gave him 2 spare plasters for later incase they came off as I was worried about him.

The two older children came passed ONCE and whilst doing so also checked if you needed another ball for the game you as playing. They both ended up in tears after what you said about them and I took them home.

You also camped in the woods which is alongside the river and the lake, no main road in the proximity.

I would very much like to speak further in regards to this if you feel happy to do so as we are a small family run campsite and take comments like this very personally. Although we will not be able to get everything right all the time, your review is actually factually incorrect and damaging to our reputation. I could completely emphasise and ensure to make right in the future any comments that were true but instance, its sadly not the case.

Unpowered grass and earth tent site

Liked Friendly owners, availability of games equipment and spaces to pitch tents.
Family campers made it a quiet space (except for the Sat only camping group)
Cafe, good clean toilets plus quirky toilet and showers in horse box.

Disliked No hot water at wash up stations
Condition of the river water and not able too paddleboard + hire - one of the reasons for booking

From the manager: Thank you for your review, pleased to hear you felt the pitches were spacious and facilities were clean 🙂
Apologies you disliked not having any hot water. In regards to the river, unfortunately that's not something we can control. You would have been informed at check in about this and told it's personal preference. The river has still been very busy with paddlers up and down. It's an informative measure and not one where you was told you could not. The weekend you stayed, lots of other campers still enjoyed the river.

Waterfront safari tent

Liked The safari tent is amazing. Very spacious and well equipped with lots of nice finishing details. Great spot at the side of the river. Surrounded by friendly fisherman with their families. The tent more than Comfortably fits a family of four plus it has a pull out sofa bed, though we didnt need it. Having en suite toilet and shower was a welcome bonus too. Phil and Antonia are great hosts made us feel very welcome with fresh bedding supplied too!
It was our daughters birthday during our stay and so they put party balloons and a gift in the tent ready for our arrival which was very well received.
The site is very well maintained, lovely and clean with easy access to local amenities, on site paddle boarding, fishing and a top notch cafe which does a good breakfast with good veggie options.
The farm animals are a nice touch too!
The quiet times are much needed after a busy day but the site is still peacful enough during the day to sit and read if you wanted too.
The background music to the communal play area is just loud enough to enjoy without being too overwhelming that you can’t relax during the day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Unpowered forest floor tent site (woodland)

Liked EVERYTHING! This site is absolutely beautiful. You can see throughout the site, from the games field, to the little pictures in the beautiful always clean toilet. That it is made with love and care for their guests! We stayed in the Forrest floor pitch and it was absolutely beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed lunch in the café which was beautifully cooked and made with love just like the site.
We will MOST DEFINITELY be back! Thank you.

Unpowered forest floor tent site (woodland)

Liked This is a gorgeous little campsite, very green, and nicely laid out to create pockets of privacy amongst the trees, and by the water. There are playing areas for the kids and a bar for the adults. There is a really nice cafe onsite, with good food options and a lovely sunny veranda looking over the site The staff were super friendly and helpful. There's also a place onsite to facilitate paddleboarding and kayaking -although we didn't use these. Close to other facilities, like a Co-op across the road, and a nice Indian restaurant nearby.

Disliked This suprising pocket of countryside is located just off an industrial estate and near some busy roads, so although you wouldn't think it when you are in the peaceful greenery of the site, it isn't in a rural location so there is some road noise.
Also you have to pay for the showers, which is a bit of a pain, especially when you have to find the coins to do so!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are so pleased to hear you thought the campsite was gorgeous and very green 🙂 Apologies you felt this about the showers, it is included on all the pitch information when you book and we always have £1 coins at check in to help with change. We're sorry you felt the location was not rural enough but great to hear you would visit again and recommend to friends.
