The meadow late in the season

  • Secluded adults-only glamping site in a Sevenoaks Weald meadow
  • A 10-minute drive from Tonbridge or Knole Park
  • Furnished bell tents 10 minutes' walk from the village pub
Take a breather from everyday life and reconnect with nature at Little Elses Glamping, a small-scale adults-only site in Sevenoaks Weald that's completely off-grid. Surrounded by the sounds of nature and colourful wildflowers, these furnished bell tents make a great place for getaways in the quiet of the Kent countryside. If you're escaping London for a short break, you can come with just an overnight bag and drive from the capital in about an hour – but it's also well worth settling in for a longer stay to explore the area, which is full of footpaths, cycle rides, restaurants, vineyards and National Trust properties. On top of that, the A21 is a two-minute drive up the hill, meaning you can get down to the Kent or Sussex coast in about an hour. Being located on the outskirts of the village means you're a 10-minute walk from drinks and food at the local pub; there’s also a community shop where you can head to grab a few basics. Driving out to Tonbridge (10 minutes' drive) opens up more possibilities, but if you don't fancy venturing that far, you can either fire up your barbecue for an alfresco evening meal on site or walk five minutes down the track to Giacomo's Italian restaurant just over the road.

Liked: Great communication with Laura who texted us on check in day and lives on site. Everything we needed was provided, including things like washing up materials, camping stove with gas, cutlery, crockery. Lots of blankets to keep warm. Loved that it's small scale and adults-only; just three tents! A proper toilet and hot showers. Little light pollution, so it was great for star gazing. Would definitely love to return.

Liked: Loved everything about this glampsite! Everything has been thought of so you really do only need to bring yourselves and a towel. All cooking supplies included (pots, pans, plates, cutlery, etc), coals and logs for bbq and fire pit available. The comfiest bed in the world and a proper loo and shower made the whole experience really enjoyable. The hosts Laura and Scott were around if anything was needed which was great. There are some very friendly horses in the next field which come along to say hello. The perfect glamping weekend which is dig friendly too!

Disliked: No dislikes but if you're a light sleeper I recommend bringing some ear plugs as noise may sometimes travel across the open fields.

Liked: The communication was fabulous and the site is so well prepared. From the trucks for carrying the bags to the mown paths with beautiful wild flowers. The tent was well set out and very large. Everything we needed was located inside or clear instructions for where to find things (e.g charcoal). Loved it and would recommend

Bell tent

Liked: The location is perfect; an easy 15 minute drive from the heart of Sevenoaks, out in the countryside. We visited in June so the surrounding trees were lush and green and the fields were adorned with wildflowers. The site is beautifully presented and the tents were far enough apart to give privacy. Each tent had a colour theme and style. We chose the sage tent, closest to the facilites which included a shower (with hot water!) and a toilet. The tent was super clean. The bed was very comfortable, with good quality linen and plenty of blankets to hand. Cutlery, plates and glasses were provided, along with a camping stove, kettle, pots, pans and basic utensils which meant we could make warm drinks in the evening and knock up a hearty breakfast in the morning. A cool box was also provided along with a fire pit, with logs, charcoal and firefighters. A garden bench to eat at and camping chairs to sit around the fire and state at the stars. The view across the fields was stunning! Access and parking was easy. We felt safe and very connected to nature, allowing us to relax and unwind fully. Laura greeted us on arrival and was contactable if we needed. We didn’t have children with us but it would be a safe place for them to be, although I would say more conducive space for a couple to relax without them…and I can’t comment on the WiFi because we switched off our phones so didn’t need it!

Disliked: Honestly can’t think of anything! So much thought has gone into covering all needs. Thank you!

Bell tent

Liked: A great escape from the city hum drum at a short distance from London. Quiet and serene setting, in the country, something we were looking for. The camping site was well equipped with everything we needed. The camp was comfortable and cosy, and the toilet and showered facilities were lovely and clean. Communication with Laura (the host) was great and she made us feel very welcome and comfortable. There was no electricity but we didn’t feel that because the toilet and shower had solar lights and the long summer days made it easy to manage. We has some battery operated torches. There is no WiFi but the phone connectivity at the campsite was good. Loved being off the grid for a bit and appreciate some calm and quiet. There are several lovely walks in the areas which we loved doing. Would want to immerse in this experience again.

Liked: Loved the setting and the set up, very private and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The hidden lake was an extra surprise for my partner who headed down there and immediately caught two carp so he was made up! The owners were super friendly and made us feel really welcome. We would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: We love everything about Little Elses glamping. It’s our second visit and we will return again. Everything is supplied, cooking utensils, a small gas stove, bbq, cups plates, everything! The beds are so comfy, lovely clean bedding. The fire pit in the evening is a must. We booked all 3 tents took all the chairs to the middle one and had a really lovely 2 days laughing, playing games and sitting around the fire chatting into the night. Perfect.

Bell tent

Liked: The location is fantastic - a short drive from London and close to Sevenoaks, but very peaceful and quiet. The site and surroundings are beautiful and really well-kept, and the tent and facilities were lovely and very clean. A barbecue, equipment and fire were provided and the hosts have truly thought of everything you could need!

Disliked: Nothing, it was perfect!

Local attractions

The surrounding area is full of gorgeous greenery, from the lovingly landscaped grounds of Riverhill Himalayan Gardens (five minutes' drive) to the 26-acre walled garden at the National Trust's Knole Park (10 minutes) and The Lost Gardens of Sevenoaks (15 minutes). For outdoor wine tours, try The Mount Vineyard (20 minutes). In the mood for something slightly stronger? Check out the artisan gins, fruit brandies and rums on offer at Greensand Ridge Distillery (15 minutes). This Kent landscape is also full of history – the former archbishop's palace at Knole House (10 minutes), Churchill's favourite stomping ground at Chartwell (15 minutes) and the double-moated 13th-century Hever Castle (20 minutes) are just a few of the local heritage attractions not to be missed. Sport and leisure options are plentiful here too – just down the road, there's Nizels (five minutes), a golf club, health club and spa; both Sevenoaks (10 minutes) and Tonbridge (10 minutes) have well-maintained public pools. For something on the wilder side, you could swing from the trees at Go Ape Bedgebury (30 minutes) or don a wetsuit and try kitesurfing or paddleboarding at Be-Rad Watersports near Eastbourne (an hour and five minutes).
