  • Simple dog-friendly site among apple orchards in the Kent countryside
  • On the Greensand Ridge, with easy access to footpaths and local pubs
  • Lively farm with businesses including a brewery and farm shop
Loddington Farm is a simple site set among apple orchards in Kent’s ‘Garden of England’. The farm already has a great reputation as a community hub for locals. Over the past 10 years, it has diversified by building a number of on-site businesses, including a farm shop, the Musket Brewery and taproom and a pick-your-own-flowers place named Blooming Green (which you will, of course, have splendid access to during their opening hours). The farm is on the Greensand Ridge, a greensand and sandstone escarpment with woodlands and other lovely scenery, so there are great footpaths in the local area. It’s also between the villages of Linton and Boughton Monchelsea, so traditional country pubs are within 20 to 25 minutes’ walk of the farm. The apple farm has been owned by the Smith family for over 140 years, but it’s only recently that they’ve decided to invite overnight guests onboard (after some years of pondering and planning). Hikers are very likely to appreciate that the Greensand Way, with views over the surrounding countryside, also runs by the farm. There are portable toilets and showers available, along with a washing-up area. You’ll probably be the most excited about visiting the brewery and tap room, which is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm to 10pm. On Saturdays, it’s open from 12pm to 10pm and on Sundays, it’s open from 12pm to 6pm. The field is large, having been expanded in 2024 to create extra space away from the brewery and parking. Pick your own flowers at Blooming Green on Saturdays throughout the summer. The on-site farm shop is open on Monday through to Saturday between 9am and 5pm, giving you the perfect excuse for a barbecue.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Great brewery on site that had live music and food, with a lovely farm shop down the road and lots of nice pubs near by, also we’re lucky enough to have the field to ourselves.

Disliked: Busy road right behind the site can get a tad annoying and if campsite was full, not sure I’d like one of the pitches that would be behind the brewery car park.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Tom sent an email prior to us staying with all the information of our stay on it. We were due to stay on 24th August but the weather was really bad so I called Tom to let him know. He couldn't of been more understanding and helpful. Thankfully he let us roll the booking over to the following week. We had a great stay there. Nice and peaceful site. Really good taproom within stumbling distance. Clean facilities Great surroundings!!

Liked: Great little set up with all that you need - toilets, a shower and water. Nice and easy people to deal with and camping next to a Brewery is a bonus.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: A lovely little simple camping site. Great communication from the owner. There was a mix up with a wedding at the brewery adjacent to the camping field which was rather noisy at night. The owner responded immediately to my concerns, apologised and explained the confusion. He also immediately offered us a refund for the night. I would recommend if you like a simple camping experience. Just check about events at the Brewery! Good location for a stop over on our way to the channel tunnel the next morning.

Disliked: Maybe some signage to indicate that the camping toilets are not for use by Brewery customers. Was a little off putting for our children needing to use them in the evening.

From the manager: Hi Kirsty, Thanks for your invaluable feedback. We are glad that in the main you enjoyed your stay and we are working on improving signage around the site. Thanks Tom

Price high for convenience of bar but not quality of site.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Convenient location. Spacious pitch and fairly level. Portaloo clean with plenty of loo paper. Didn't try the shower, so can't comment on water temperature or power, but very basic set up. Fire pit available to use. Brewery tap room bar which sold their own beer & larger, and local cider. Mexican food van available on Friday night, good quality but not cheap. Order early as they started to run out of stuff. Fish & chips Saturday night but didn't try. All very nice to have but price high because of it. Wouldn't recommend unless you are particularly looking for a site with bar and loud music on tap.

Disliked: Price far too expensive for what was available. Portaloo only had hand sanitizer to wash your hands. Washing up sink was full of leaves and no plug. Poor communication, no confirmation email prior to arrival, no additional information about 'help yourself, select your own pitch, no one to check in with'. On arrival, no additional information, so called mobile listed to politely enquire and received a rather curt response along the lines of 'we are a working fruit farm and everyone has been up since 6am, so no one is available to help at 7pm'. Loud music from bar tent until midnight on Saturday night. Bar car park very busy and very close to camping area. All pitches adjacent to road, which was fairly quite.

From the manager: Hi Ruth, Thanks for your feedback. We are still working on improving the campsites facilities as we are just a pop up campsite at the moment. We have tried to be open and honest about the basic facilities but appreciate your comments. Upon booking an email is sent automatically (this email is where you would have found my telephone number) with site info and the fact there is no reception etc but i understand your comments and will work harder on providing future campers with more information for their stay. It certainly wasn't my intention to come across as curt. Thanks Tom

Chilled but basic and lots to do for a weekend.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: The chilled/relaxed vibe of the place, just park up and choose a pitch, you're 100 yards from a brewery, cherry picking and a flower picking with a lovely farm shop and cafe at the top of the lane. Live music and a food truck on a Friday night was great.

Disliked: The situating of the actual camping could be further from the brewery car park, everyone who parks up is looking in on your camping, would be great to have a proper toilet and a washing up area but shower was fab. Only negative is that the large group next to us whilst lovely people did keep us awake until 2.30am shouting, laughing, slamming car boots etc so not a great nights sleep to say the least.

From the manager: Hi Jasmine, Thanks for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in the main but also take into consideration your comments about the parking and the potential for noisy groups. Thanks Tom

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: The pub next door

Disliked: I hate leaving bad reviews, but here we go. I can handle basic camping but that needs to be reflected in the price. £35 is too much when you’re providing so little. We were so underwhelmed we didn’t even stay the night and went home.

From the manager: Hi Richard, Thanks for your feedback. I understand our facilities are quite basic (toilets, showers and clean water and sink). We have pictures available of the facilities which are available to view prior to booking so you can decide if this is a site you would like to stay at. It is a shame you decided not to stay the night as the early mornings are beautiful on the field as the sun rises. Thanks Tom

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Relaxed and communicative hosts; location (aesthetically and in proximity to nice places); fire friendly!

Disliked: None. A proper toilet would be an improvement on portaloos, but it is camping after all.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for your positive review - we are glad you enjoyed your stay and the relaxed vibe at the farm. We agree that a proper toilet would be an improvement and it is something we are considering for 2025...

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: A lovely little spot for camping, and close to some evening activity at the taproom next door. The shower was great, loads of hot water and a really good size for a campsite shower.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for such a great review! We are pleased you enjoyed our site and embraced its simplicity - the shower might not look like much but it is definitely nice and hot!
