What customers say

Great campsite, tidy facilities, friendly staff. Spacious, level pitches and handy shop. Good base for exploring, with dog walks and local attractions. Minor noise from nearby go-karting/events, and limited loos/showers can mean queues at busy times.

Liked Clean tidy site, clean facilities, staff helpful

Disliked Very limited range in the shop and what is there works out expensive, showers are extremely cramped - our key fob wouldn’t work with the family cubical so had to use the men’s with my son, Small secluded site - come prepared with everything as even local shops are dear

Liked We received a lovely warm welcome and found everything we needed for a comfortable 3 night stay in our campervan.
The key fob access to the toilets and showers were a welcome safety precaution and the facilities were well-lit at night time.
Lovely family-friendly site and we would definitely book again if we were staying in the area.

Disliked Nothing!

Liked It was an amazing place with beautiful sun rise, good facilities this includes a shop that was reasonably priced. Fridge and freezer and washing facilities, toilet and shower rooms that was clean and well kept.

Disliked The only thing I would say is that the toilets and shower room are together so if someone is using the mirrors and sink when they have been in the shower and you go toilet and need to wash your hands it feels rude to ask them to let you wash your hands

Liked I just got back from 3 nights of camping at Herons Park and had a great time. The site is a nice size so never seemed overly busy but the individual pitches are generous. The facilities and site itself are very well maintained and clean. The staff were also very helpful. The ability to hire a fire pit is a big bonus as many sites don't have this option. There is so much to do in the area and Lydd and Romney Marsh are a very unique and interesting landscape. Lydd town is just a couple of minutes up the road with a couple of small supermarkets and quite a good Indian restaurant/takeaway. I will definitely be back and can highly recommend the site.

Unpowered grass site

Liked From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming and well-organised. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the atmosphere around the site was relaxed and friendly.
We especially appreciated the beautiful location and the available playground.
Thank you for creating such a positive experience—we’ll definitely be recommending your campsite to others and look forward to returning ourselves.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Clean and useful on site facilities. Close to a nice sandy beach and some nice places to see. Beautiful lake at the back of the campsite, maybe rent out fishing rods? Great play areas for the kids.

Disliked Rental of fire wood and fire pit came to £18.50 which is too much. Campsite is directly under flight path of local airport, loud plane noise woke me up a few times.

Local attractions

A go-karting circuit and a watersports centre are right next door to Herons Park, each with a shop and with expert tuition and courses available for visitors. The Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, an award-winning reserve set over 600 acres near Hythe, is also recommended if you're on hol with the offspring, as is the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway steaming along for 13 and a half miles from Hythe to the National Nature Reserve of Dungeness. Lathe Farm at New Romney and the Rare Breeds Farm at Ashford should also be popular picks. For beaches, clamber the dunes or go kite buggying at Camber Sands, the only sand dune system in East Sussex, and tackle more fishing (for mackerel) at Dymchurch, like Camber Sands also a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its insect and plant life. Fish, chips and Kent coast views can all be had at the Dungeness headland. Several bike routes are nearby, including the National Cycle Network 2 running through Lydd on its Romney Marsh route from Hythe to Rye; along the four or so miles of the Royal Military Canal, and circular routes around the marsh from New Romney or Snargate. The cobbled streets and afternoon teas of ancient Rye are about ten miles from the site.
