Unpowered grass site

Liked: Idyllic little place. Location is very good if you are coming from the ferry or waiting for the ferry. Very clean shower and toilet at the main house. Dishwashing facilities available. There is also a toilet on the pitch for the night. We would love to come back!!!!

Disliked: Nothing!

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Really quiet, peaceful, site with a very relaxed attitude. Lovely mowed grass field with all the essentials we needed. Doesn't have anything fancy but didn't n ed it in our opinion. We were very much left to our own devices, didn't even see whoever was running the site.

Disliked: Not much to dislike here although there was a bit of a line for the shower on Sunday morning. We didn't have anywhere to be so didn't bother us.

Liked: Lovely site in what seems like the middle of nowhere. Toilet and water facilities, slightly sloping grass pitches, well maintained. So quiet and peaceful, lots of walks from site and on a cycle route. Friendly owners, definitely going to return.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Peaceful rural setting. Accurate description of site. Laid back atmosphere on a simple site . Pitch fees not inflated by extra charges, so good value for families.

Disliked: Hot water heater in basin was not functioning which would have been good for hand washing.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Quiet and beautiful space, in nature. Lovely host, easy going campground.

Disliked: Only one shower/bathroom for all guests, if it's full that could be a problem. Also the dishwashing sink had only ice cold water.

Liked: Lovely little rural site. We found some great walks nearby. The loudest noises were the birds singing. Basic but all the better for it

Disliked: Mild slope but it's not much

Local attractions

When you’ve walked, cycled and hacked across Kent, there’s only one option left: make for Canterbury (15 minutes’ drive) and punt or canoe your way down the Stour, stopping off for wanders of the Roman walls and guided Chaucer themed town walks, to finish up in the cathedral. For more adventures in the ancient, the trio of Deal, Walmer and Dover Castles are all half an hour’s drive away and full of sights from times gone by, including a Roman lighthouse, secret World War II tunnels and the Duke of Wellington’s seaside pad. History with a side serving of bells and whistles can be had with a steam ride on the restored Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (40 minutes). Half an hour away, the Sandwich and Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve serves up cliffs and saltmarshes, with seal colonies offshore in winter and summer cuckoos and nightingales turning the place into a sound garden. Or visit Britain’s only desert: Dungeness National Nature Reserve (50 minutes) is a landscape loved by waders and migratory birds, made extra picworthy by the looming power station. For more contained encounters with wildlife, try Wingham Wildlife Park, a large collection of small creatures with exotic names such as tamanduas and cloud rats, while bigger beasts including Kent’s only giant anteaters stalk the plains at Howlett’s Zoo; both are half an hour away.
