  • Quiet Hampshire site with large grass pitches and easy road access
  • In the Test Valley, less than a mile from Stockbridge town centre
  • Wild-style camping on a low-key farm; firewood for sale on site
Time in the Test Valley is time well spent – this lovely pocket of Hampshire is well-known for its scenery, clear chalk streams and gentle pace of life, making it just the spot for a laidback camping break. Stockbridge View, a quiet site near the Test Valley market town of Stockbridge, is conveniently located just off the A30. This back to basics choice is within easy reach of Winchester (20 minutes' drive), Salisbury (25 minutes), Stonehenge (25 minutes) and Southampton (35 minutes). The pitches here are set over a flat and grassy area that's bordered by trees and hedgerows. You can pitch up wherever you like at this laidback farm spot, and all parts of the site are a few minutes’ walk from good basic amenities like a modern toilet and shower block and a chemical disposal point (please use green fluid). Campfires, barbecues and firepits are welcome here as long as they are lifted well off the grass. Handily, firewood is available to buy if you haven't brought your own fuel. Wood-fired pizzas, kebabs, pub food and a small supermarket are all available less than a mile away in Stockbridge town centre via a quiet bridleway. Please note that there's a clay pigeon shooting range half a mile away and therefore there may be some noise from that heard on site (mainly on Saturdays, but sometimes on other days).

What customers say

Great spot, loved the friendly owners & chill vibe. Super clean loos & hot showers. Easy walk to Stockbridge. Basic but spacious, level sites, great value. A bit of road noise but not bad. Peaceful and well-equipped.

Liked A lovely site! Toilets were clean, showers were lovely. The warden was great and politely asked the noisier guests to abide by the 10pm curfew. Very friendly owners checking everything was suitable. Beautiful sunset too!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Newly refurbished toilet and shower block, area to clean pots etc. and little shed with charging point and local information on places to eat/walk etc.

Disliked No assigned pitches meant when we came back from our day out two new tents were literally on top of us.

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked Another fabulous stay. The folks that own/run the site could be more helpful and welcoming. I love that they pop by just to check all is ok and that you’re having a lovely time. The facilities are excellent and Stockbridge itself (just a short off road walk from the site) is beautifully quaint with a great selection of pubs/restaurants serving delicious food. I have already booked my next stay 🤩❤️

Unpowered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Very friendly staff, even opened the gate for us when we arrived. They gave advice best places to pitch up for us as a Newly-we'd couple. Recommended nearby places to visit such as the best pub, restaurant and scenic walks. The overall vibe of the place was very friendly and fun even made some new friends. We will definitely be coming back.

Disliked There was a god awfully big Spider in the gents toilet cubical that I'm sure was on massive amounts of steroids, and probably could have carried our SUV away in the night, with us in it 🤣🤣😂😂....

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked Simple and clean site, not too big and now designated pitches so you could go wherever you wanted. Ideal for groups to congregate together. God location as it's only a 20 minute walk down he hill to Stockbridge which has some nice (but expensive) coffee shops, bakery, butcher, pubs and boutique shops. Just about all independent shops which is nice to see. 20 minute drive to Andover and 5 minute drive to Danebury Iron Age Hillfort which is nice to walk up and around. The site has a nice little toilet & shower block and a washing up area with USB charging point and ice pack freezer.

Disliked Could do with another toilet/shower block as there's only 2 toilets and 2 showers in the mens side (plus 2 urinals).
The dog poo down the path that goes down the hill to Stockbridge, but that's not the campsite's fault. That's lazy dog owners!

Local attractions

For greenery and gardens, try Houghton Lodge (five minutes' drive), a small-scale spot dating back to the late 18th century in a gorgeous riverside location. The grounds at Mottisfont (15 minutes), a National Trust-managed house and garden, may be a bit grander in scale, but they're in a relaxed country location and aren't too big for a day out with young kids. This part of the world has lots of military connections, so how about a trip to the Army Flying Museum (10 minutes), or to Winchester (20 minutes) and its regimental collections in Peninsula Square? Inspired to try a bit of target practice yourself? The Spitfire Shoot (five minutes) can sort you with clay pigeon sessions (mostly on Saturdays, but sometimes at other times too). A little bit further away there are world-class attractions like Stonehenge (25 minutes), a must-see when visiting this part of the world, as well as family-focused options like Paultons Park (30 minutes), a theme park, and the interactive exhibits at Milestones Museum in Basingstoke (30 minutes).
