General

  • Peaceful site on the edge of a Hampshire village
  • Sir Harold Hillier Gardens 1.5 miles; Winchester 20 minutes' drive
  • Fishing lake available; under a mile to the nearest pub

Lakeside Wild Glamping is a place to immerse yourself in nature – those passing through this peaceful part of the world often spot hares, birds, three species of deer and, occasionally, an elusive otter. Located in the green Hampshire countryside, this site is within easy walking distance of the small village Braishfield and close to lots of excellent visitor attractions including Winchester, Paultons Park and the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens.

Getting here is very much a memorable experience in itself, as you'll need to travel down a farm track through a field of friendly cows (and another field of sunflowers, when they're in season) to reach your pitch.

Once here, you can look forward to a good standard of facilities and plenty of space, plus access to a secluded fishing lake (angling is available on site). Itchy feet? Footpaths are on hand to reach villages in the immediate vicinity, making it easy to get to Braishfield's village pub (20 minutes' walk at a leisurely pace) or to explore further afield.

A 10-minute drive will take you to the red brick market town of Romsey on the gorgeous river Test, where there are shops, restaurants, cafés and a railway station.

Small camping site and only 20 min walk to nearest pub which served great food. Very isolated pitches which was good.

    Disliked:

There is no phone signal at all. Not the end of the world though. Only really one good spot for fishing which is next to the bell tent.

Was told on our first night that there had been a mistake and that we would need to re-locate to a different pitch. Unfortunately as my son and I were there purely for a fishing trip, the other pitches available were no good for fishing so we ended up packing up and leaving early.
I have been told that I'll receive a refund which is great. They were extremely apologetic. Mistakes happen.

Good instructions from owner to find site. The best views of the lake are by the rental bell tent but the next pitch along (which we got) is large and has views of the lake too which were lovely Fire pit provided which is a nice touch. The portaloo was clean and so was the shower shack. Two bins for your rubbish were on site also. Site is very peaceful and just a twenty minute walk to the pub. Be prepared for no phone signal/4g

Quiet campsite, really felt disconnected from the rest of the world at times. Wildlife was lovely! Toilet was really clean.

    Disliked:

The entrance was very off-road, not the biggest issue but we had issues with our car on the journey in and it was anxiety producing!

The location! It was idyllic. We stayed in the Bell Tent which had its own private area next to the lake where we watched the ducks, fish jumping for their tea, birds and wildlife. In the distance were fields and the cows.

We had a lovely straw to the nearby pub one afternoon, and the next day we did a long bike ride through stunning countryside around the villages.

The faciities were as we expected and wanted - simple and basic that did the job.

And thanks to owner Sara Jane when,
at the end of our stay when it turned out we had a flat battery: jump leads to the rescue!

Pitch was nice and flat. Tap for water and a shower is available. The owner text me directions for the site on the day and these were really helpful. Peaceful location and the pond looked nice. Bins were available for any rubbish we had. We liked driving through the field with the cows and saying hello to them.
    Overall a really nice stay.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike as directions to site were great but maybe a sign on the first gate saying "Lakeside Wild Glamping" might help some people finding the site.
