  • Quiet rural site 10 minutes' walk from the pub in Damerham
  • A 15-minute drive from the New Forest, half an hour from Bournemouth
  • Firepits for hire and local breakfast produce to order
Heaps of space, local pub, starry skies by night – there’s much to celebrate at lovely Jubilee Camping, in the village of Damerham on the border of Dorset and Hampshire. You may like to raise a toast in honour of the site’s cracking location, within easy reach of the New Forest National Park, the old city of Salisbury and the beaches around Bournemouth. Or perhaps you’d prefer to pay homage to the relaxed vibe, which welcomes kids and dogs and encourages barbecues or campfires (firepits are available to hire, and you can stock up on firewood to feed the flames). There can be few finer ways to kick off your day than the smell of a cooked breakfast sizzling away – have a word in the ear of one of the friendly folk on site to order local produce (bacon, sausages, eggs, bread, milk) to make it just a tad better. For other meals, shops, takeaways and restaurants are three miles away in Cranborne or Fordingbridge, and a fab local pub is 10 minutes’ walk away (serving up treats from craft beers to cream teas). In keeping with the traditional setup, there’s not a huge raft of facilities here, but the basics are well tended – toilets, hot showers, water points and plenty of space for parking.

Liked: The campsite was lovely and open. The people working there are the nicest people I have come across that run a campsite. The food bus did amazing food and the hut had some nice drinks.

Disliked: The only let down for this site was the toilet/Shower facilities. Lack of lighting. No water pressure in the sinks. Hot water constantly ran out.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Great family campsite, very friendly. We were given option of where we would like to pitch tents, and how we wanted to set up was left to us. Not set pitches for each tent. Toilets and showers all clean and tidy. We stayed as a group with 8 children between us, they loved to explore the animals around the site. Bus serves food for breakfast and pizza on sat night. Not far to drive to coast for beach day, great location

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: The campsite has many fields to chose from and offers great amounts of space on each field. The ground was easy to pitch up on and had many level areas. The staff were very friendly and welcoming upon arrival and continued to be helpful and attentive when getting food in the mornings and evenings. One staff member even offered to help pack away our tent! The location is quiet and remote, yet walking distance form a local pub that serves quality food. A small village is only a 10 minute drive away which allowed us to stock up on any forgotten items. This campsite is perfect for anyone looking for a simplistic camping experience, and can cater for small and large party sizes. We will definitely be back

Liked: Perfect stay!!! Hosted by friendly welcoming people who can not do enough to make your stay enjoyable. Great toilet and shower facilities. Lovely views. Excellent bar and bus with teas, coffees and food. As it’s a family family site, majority are very respectful of the environment. We will definitely be back again very soon.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. It is what you make if it.

Liked: Superb camp site lots and lots of space. Has a double decker bus where you can get breakfast baps and food in the evening. A little bar where you can buy a pint of local ale and a cider or even wine or presseco. Very friendly. Showers and toilets kept very clean.

Liked: Our second visit to this site. It’s a lovely relaxed site for sharing with friends and family. Evening meals from the bus if you don’t fancy cooking, clean shower facilities and lots of baby lambs to see. We will be back again! Town of Fordingbridge is excellent too, lake, play park and shops.

Local attractions

Up for more of that fab fresh air? Take a rod over to Rockbourne Trout Fishery (10 minutes away) or let everyone, canine companions included, have a romp around the New Forest National Park (15 minutes). Daredevil types may also like to bounce their way across the inflatable obstacle course at the New Forest Water Park (15 minutes); wakeboarding and kayaking are other options here. Turn your sights coastwards and you can hit the beaches of Bournemouth in around half an hour, or get to the Jurassic Coast in around an hour, perhaps to stroll on the South West Coast Path or dawdle your way round Durdle Door in a canoe. In the same direction are the ape antics of Monkey World and the world’s largest collection of tanks, at the appropriately named Tank Museum (both 50 minutes). Petrolheads and historians alike are likely to enjoy ogling the collection of classic cars at Beaulieu’s National Motor Museum (50 minutes); further gems from bygone eras can be seen in Salisbury (half an hour) and at Stonehenge (35 minutes).
