  • Family-run site in a New Forest hamlet next to an award-winning pub
  • A 10-minute drive to Fordingbridge town and 30 to Bournemouth beaches
  • Fire baskets on request and local produce for sale; walks all around
The Hampshire hamlet of Frogham's a dandy spot indeed – miles of forest trails and an award-winning local pub? Yes please…  Frogham also has Harrys Field to its name, a small and friendly site where outdoor hols are something of a family affair – three generations of the same clan have lived next door for more than 40 years (you’ll pass Grandad Harry’s cottage on the way into the park).  The site, circled by hedgerows buzzing with birds, is surrounded by the New Forest – where shaggy ponies roam free. The Foresters Arms, an award-winning country pub with a good selection of food and real ales, is a couple of minutes' walk away. There's good news for those travelling with pets, too: both Harrys Field and The Foresters Arms are dog-friendly destinations.  For alternative eats, prep a picnic back on site with some of the locally sourced grub sold on the grounds, take to the nearby forest trails and get walking. In the evening, you're welcome to light up a barbecue or set forth for the small town of Fordingbridge (10 minutes’ drive) for numerous spots that will stave off the hunger.

Local attractions

The whole of the New Forest's renowned for its walking and cycle trails, and the area around Frogham's no exception. Many of the tracks in this part of the forest pass well-known pubs: the Harrys Field team reckons that the Royal Oak in Fritham and the High Corner Inn at Linwood (both around 15 minutes’ drive) make particularly ace refuelling stops. Rather get around by hoof? A local riding stables is a few minutes' drive from the park. Ready to rock those jelly shoes? It's a doddle to get between here and the coast, with top beaches at Bournemouth (30 minutes), Mudeford (35 minutes) and Hengistbury Head (40 minutes) all within easy reach. Other popular seaside spots include Poole Harbour (40 minutes) and Brownsea Island (40 minutes plus a short ferry ride); head to the latter for a chance to see red squirrels in the wild. Nippers hankering after a change from the outdoorsy stuff? Head to Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World (30 minutes) or pay a visit to the critters at Marwell Zoo (40 minutes) to mix things up a bit.
