A family-friendly farm site on the outskirts of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this East Sussex site is well-situated for castle capers, the splendid seaside and careering through the countryside on the surrounding footpaths. Where to find the nearest castle? Well, Herstmonceux Castle is just 10 minutes’ drive away, and if you want to dive into two different types of escapes in one day, the nearest beach (a popular spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing) is 15 minutes’ drive away too. Otherwise, map out your way directly from the site… the local area has woodland walks nearby and the 31-mile 1066 Country Walk directly from the site. If you’re looking for a peaceful and simple stay, then that’s what you’ll get at Parkes Farm. A quiet field on a family farm, there’s plenty of space for children to play about and basic facilities including a cold water tap, an area for guests to clean up a little and a composting toilet. When your supplies require topping up, there are a couple of farm shops within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. Handily, it’s a 15-minute walk away from the nearest pub, so you may sip on a couple of pints of Sussex ales and fill up on food if you so desire before wandering back to the site.
