  • Small, scenic and rural site in the Rossendale valley
  • Fully-equipped luxury glamping pods 45 minutes' drive from Manchester
  • Wildlife trail, island, stone barbecues, firepits, deer hides and café
Moors, valley, wildlife watching and an island… lose yourself at Rossendale Holiday Glamping for glamping holidays in Lancashire countryside, 40 minutes’ drive from Manchester in the Rossendale valley. A 20-acre site once used for stabling horses in a historic courtyard, Rossendale has been converted to a holiday village by its family team, with glamping accommodation, modern amenities and a friendly vibe in a spectacular rural setting. The site has its own island with stone barbecue and firepit: this is your spot for outdoor dinners, nature spotting and lazing by the river alongside the flames of the fire. The site has been developed as a wildlife haven, home to 4,000 mature trees, a nature trail, bird tables and deer hides… as well as picnic tables for more lazy meals. Walks of varying lengths start straight from the grounds, into the Rossendale valley and the adjacent Pennine moors; the Pennine Way is five minutes' walk away. Accommodation is in camping pods, each with plenty of space outside and a stone table for barbecuing on. Start your day with breakfast at the Hayshed Café, then (armed with picnic snacks to take away), set off among the moors and valley, book a cycling tour around Lee Quarry or pedal off along the local paths, or go sailing or horse riding nearby.

What customers say

A top-notch, quiet country spot with amazing views. Toilets/showers are spotless, modern, some with heated floors. Plenty of space between sites, great activities, walking, lake, and nature tracks. Staff are friendly, helpful, with food delivery a bonus. Some found pitches windy/exposed, one noted noise.

Liked The site is an absolute oasis of calmness and serenity. We were given a really great pitch with beautiful, elevated views of the hills, by extremely friendly staff and we managed to get set up pretty quickly to enjoy the evening sunshine with a glass of wine. On the second day we discovered that we could get a local bus to Rawtenstall with just a short walk to the main road, which we did. We had a lovely afternoon in Rawtenstall, again in lovely sunshine, returning in the early evening with some food to cook for our dinner. New neighbours arrived that evening and we enjoyed chatting and getting to know them. We were daunted by the prospect of rain for the next day, which was our checkout day, however when this came about, we were thankful that only very light showers occured and we were able to pack our car and roof tent away with everything pretty dry.

Disliked There is nothing to dislike about this site apart from not getting one of pitches 1-4 allocated.

Powered concrete and grass motorhome site

Liked Amazing site, plenty of things to do onsite for both adults and children.
We booked quite short notice for us being let down on another site as they allow single night booking (still allowed us to book and no mention of it on website or confirmation!) anyway thankfully we found Rossendale Glamping and we are so glad we did.

Pitches are well spaced and there walks around a small lake, through woods on raised platforms so should be usable year round regardless of weather.
Very modern and clean toilet and shower block, covered pot wash - cafe that provides food and drink delivered to your pitch, lodge and fantastic staff, very very helpful and happy to chat

I would say it's suitable for well behaved children or those who enjoy the outdoors as others have booked spa, relaxing weekends I'm not sure they'd all appreciate unruly kids!
We plan to come back with our daughter's and will make that clear!!

Highly recommended

Liked Cleanliness of toilet/wash facilities.

Disliked VERY VERY NOISY. Just four pitches and you assume it will be quiet. BUT NO. First night was disturbed by a campervan occupant who hosted a VERY LOUD party for him and guests that arrived from nowhere. Thumping music through the night. Children yelling and screaming. Flashing disco lights. Messaged the management team who are not on site. They apologised following day and said guest had been asked to leave and not come back. He didn't leave and was still there. Second email from management implied that he was a regular guest. So my assumption is it happens a lot and they turn a blind eye to it. If you are looking for peace and quiet then AVOID.

From the manager: Dear Middle aged couple :)

Ermm you stayed three nights?
There were indeed noisy guests on ONE night. We had a word and they behaved impeccably for the rest of their stay. They were very apologetic and embarrassed.
We are sorry you encountered this on your first night. I believe your second and third were very peaceful.
We certainly don't turn a blind eye to noise, we dealt with it as soon as we knew. It very very rarely happens.
We believe the 1/10 to be incredibly harsh. Had it been so awful we don't believe you'd have stayed a further 2 nights. (which you did) :)))))))))

Local attractions

Walks and bike rides of all lengths start either from the site or very close by, and the Rossendale team can arrange bike tours for guests via local companies. A sailing club is a 10-minute drive away if you’d like to sail or waterski; for skiing (yes, Manchester skiing), a dry slope is within 15 minutes. Hardy hikers looking for longer adventurers can join the Pennine Way five minutes’ drive from the site, on its 286-mile meander from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm in the Scottish Borders. For shorter – but still fairly strenuous hikes – access the 42-mile West Pennine Link near Clowbridge Reservoir in Rossendale to follow it along its path to Bolton, or take the Rossendale Way (41 miles) around the borough border, from Tippett Farm three and a half miles away. A more sedate sightseeing option is the East Lancashire Railway (15 minutes), which runs for 12.5 miles between Heywood and Rawtenstall via Bury and Ramsbottom; meals, a real ale trail, driver experiences and events such as murder mystery evenings are all held too. Also have a look at the Whitaker Museum (15 minutes) for films, open mike nights and art exhibitions. Festivals run regularly in the region too, such as May’s Ramsbottom 1940s Weekend, 25 minutes away.
