Our campsite

  • Quiet campsite in rural Lancashire for adults only
  • A mile from Chorley town centre; Go Ape Rivington 10 minutes' drive
  • Dog-friendly pitches beneath Healy Nab; pub 10 minutes' walk away
Primrose Cottage Camping – a sweet-smelling name indeed, with spectacular countryside views to match. Set amid grassy fields, woodlands and streams in the lovely Lancashire countryside, this site is an excellent spot for back to basics camping in a low-key setting – and as an adults-only site, it does not accept children. Located beneath Healy Nab and next to Blackbrook stream, the site is hidden away in the local countryside. Flat walks along both footpaths and canals are available a few hundred yards from the site gates, making it a cinch to get out there and explore Lancashire's best scenic spots and wildlife havens… Strolling through the local landscape is, of course, an activity you can get up to with your dog if you've brought one along – Primrose Cottage Camping has pet-friendly rules, with polite four-legged friends welcome here all year round. In fact, all guests at this quiet site are asked to be polite and keep any music at a low level for the benefit of everyone around. Chorley town centre is a mile away, although with the rural views here you wouldn't know it. The closest pub is 10 minutes' walk away, and are plenty more pubs, shops and cafés in town within easy reach either on foot (20 minutes' walk) or by car (five minutes' drive). There's also good access to the speedy M61 for long-distance drives to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, both of which can be reached within an hour.

What customers say

Primrose Cottage is a quiet, adults-only park with big, flat spots. Reviewers rave about the super clean loos. Owners are friendly and helpful. While you might hear the motorway a bit, the park's peaceful vibe, lovely views and nearby walks are a big hit. Hire fire pits for a chill time.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked First time solo female camper and had such a positive experience that has calmed the nerves I had for the future. Received text beforehand with directions and addional information, easy to find, huge field with ample space between campers. Laury and Anthony were super and welcoming and had a lovely chat with Laury who was very reassuring about safety etc.
Toilet block is fabulous, clean and aesthetically pleasing.
Gorgeous sunrise this morning.
May have only been down the road but felt a million miles away it was so relaxed.
Will 100% be coming back again. Thank you.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Quiet and peaceful. All pitches close to toilet block. Site felt safe. Toilets very clean and welcoming, with toilet roll, hand soap and paper hand towels provided. Flat pitches. Firewood and firepits available to purchase. Feels remote yet still close to shops for necessities. Nice to be able to go to an adults-only site during the summer holidays. Bins available on site. Drinking water tap available. Good information and directions provided by owners prior to stay. Text service available. Pretty flower beds and solar lights outside the toilet block. Thank you for a quiet, enjoyable one-night stay. We will definitely be revisiting.

Unpowered grass campervan site

Liked simple toilet block with lovely flower display
texted very clear instructions on how to find them as there were no signs from the main road this was needed.
text message from owners was really nice, and they were supportive when I had to call the AA
I would consider staying here again as a break from a long journey up the M6 motorway you definitely need a navigation app to get there.

Disliked nothing, but I was nervous driving over the concrete beck (water) but it was fine
