  • Family-friendly site on a family-run working farm a mile from Orton
  • Between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District; close to the C2C route
  • A five-minute drive from the M6 and Tebay services/farm shop
Moor House Farm Camping is a simple campsite on a large family-run working farm in the Cumbria countryside, just under a mile from the pretty village of Orton. It’s the kind of location that’s likely to win lots of fans: look out over gorgeous views of the Howgill Fells while on site, then easily get out to the village for a pub (a proper country pub with real ales, meals and takeaways), a café, a well-stocked village shop, a play area and a chocolate-maker, plus a farmers’ market (every second Saturday of the month). Orton’s also on the famed Coast to Coast route, so this farm makes a good stopover point for long-distance travellers as well as those who’d like to sample a smaller section. There are peaceful walks and bike rides to be had all around, with the Lake District National Park on one side and the Yorkshire Dales on the other. There’s plenty of space to relax on the farm, where you can watch the cows and sheep grazing in neighbouring fields. (Please note that life on a working farm does come with a bit of noise from various bits of machinery and the occasional ‘country smell’…) Facilities at this site include showers, a toilet block with hot washbasins, hand dryers and an outdoor washing-up area. Electricity for the shower block is provided by an on-site wind turbine. This is an unlit site, so you’ll want to bring along a torch.

Unpowered grass and earth motorhome site

Liked Owner was on site and checked all ok very friendly, and lots of space to choose from field is partially on a gradient so good for drainage.
Constructive feedback the Washroom whilst very clean was unisex, and my wife was a little nervous using the shower whilst other sexes were using the WC. But understand its only a small set up

Unpowered grass and earth motorhome site

Liked This was our second time staying here, and we loved it just as much. We stayed for two nights this time and had a great experience again. The campsite is really nice with lovely views and very clean facilities.

It’s only a 15-minute walk to a pub and the pizzas there are amazing!

The owner is so friendly and welcoming - can’t wait to come back again!

Unpowered grass and earth motorhome site

Liked Beautiful views, toilets were immaculate, reasonably priced and loved the email ahead of our trip with directions and info on booking. Fantastic location just off motorway and although really close we didn't have an issue with noise

Disliked It's only a mile away from Tebay services and accessible by back roads so prepare for a dent in your bank balance.

Lovely quiet little place.

Unpowered grass and earth motorhome site

Liked Lovely little campsite on a working farm. Small and basic but spotlessly clean facilities and a very friendly owner who clearly takes pride in what they do.

Despite being right by the M6 it feels very quiet and remote, which is perfect for what I wanted.

Really nice, I’ll gladly stay here again.

Unpowered grass and earth motorhome site

Liked Lots of room, with lots of space between pitches and great view. Just what we like! No check in, drive on and pitch up. The owner walks round in the afternoon to make sure you are OK and make sure you know where everything is, then leaves you to it. Couldn't ask for more, nice clean shower/toilet block. We will be back.
