Dream of waking up to expansive views of Ullswater, followed by a Cumbrian breakfast and then an invigorating walk in the fells? If the answer’s yes, then a stay at The Brackenrigg Inn might well be in order. On the western shore of the lake, this pop-up site, a 15-minute drive from Penrith, stretches across a grassy meadow at the back of a modern country pub that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. For dry-land entertainment, make for the surrounding fells – from the relatively straightforward Little Mell (five minutes’ drive) to the more challenging Gowbarrow (10 minutes), from where it’s easy to reach Aira Force Waterfall (10 minutes), with its dramatic 65-foot drop.

Great spot with amazing Ullswater views. Handy pub with good grub and friendly staff. Peaceful and spacious, but loos are basic and sometimes grubby, with a shortage of showers/hot water. A bit dear for what's on offer, but the location's a big win. Occasional noise from campers and the pub.

Liked *The expensive view.
*some staff were kind during service.
*the pubs nice but expensive.

Disliked *over priced for a field with glorified porta loo's which are full of flies and smell of ammonia.

*couldn't tell if the tap water was safe to drink however the fact it's right next to the porta loo's I wouldn't have tempted fate.

* no welcome email explaining check inn ect.

* breakfast was over priced for what it was and certainly didn't expect burnt mushrooms and toast. There is a lot better in the area for a fraction of the price.

*double booked by accident and couldn't refund one booking so paid double.

* BBQs not aloud but you can pay to attend one at the pub. Also no fire pits on a raised fire pit.

*been going to the lake district particularly pooley bridge for 30 years and truly felt ripped off by this site.

Disliked Could do with some wipes in the toilets I’ve seen at other sites just to keep on top of flies on an evening- all part of camping though !

Liked Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely views of lake and mountains. Pub lovely, had a bbq on and a singer which was very much enjoyed- staff absolutely brilliant and friendly.

Disliked Lots of flies in the portaloos all over sinks.

Liked That you had food you could get on site with the pub being there, there was plenty of space on this camp site and also it had lights so you could see where you was going.

Disliked We had some loud lads next to us, im nit holding fun against people at all but after 12pm at night it wasnt the best when it was advertised as being quiet

Disliked Field was very rough. No hot water to wash hands. 2 of my 3 day stay there was no toilet roll or hand towels. There are no electric dryers to dry hands either. Am
