Unpowered gravel motorhome site

Liked: Site is right on the Estuary with fantastic views across to the Mountains. Big flat pitches. Super walks on coast path, to beach + big mature reserve closeby. Very quiet. Lovely owner. Great value for money. Easy walk to supermarket at Millom.

Disliked: Nothing. Portable loo but knew that already.

Local attractions

The surrounding area has lots to keep visitors to this part of the world entertained, from peaceful pursuits like walking and birdwatching to more energetic activities like sailing, paddling and other watersports. Starting locally, you might like to visit Millom's beach, sea wall and interesting lighthouse, all of which are about a mile away from base – and if you like fishing, you can also cast your line straight from the quay. For a change of scene, there's another pleasant beach at Silecroft (15 minutes' drive). Drive for a quarter of an hour inland and you'll reach the Black Combe trailhead, the start of a two-hour walk up one of Cumbria's most impressive mountains. On a sunny day, you can take in 360-degree views from the summit, with vistas that can stretch all the way to the Isle of Man and the Mull of Galloway over the water in Scotland. Estuary View Escapes is well within reach of other Lakeland favourites, including Coniston Water (35 minutes) for watersports and boating as well as the steam heritage line operated by the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (30 minutes).
