Liked: Great location, quiet area. Lovely beach a short walk away for amazing sunsets. Lovely clean, secure facilities accessed with a fob. Very reasonably priced cafe on site, only got a scone but it was lovely.

Disliked: Nothing all good. With it being on the coast it was very windy during our stay, make sure you have tent pegs if using an awning.

Liked: The site overlooks the Harbour & Marina, with spectacular views.Just a short walk down to the shore,to photograph the wading birds.A 10 minute walk into the old town, with a walk back along the river back to the site.

Disliked: Noisy neighbours next to our pitch, who could be heard above the strong winds into the early hours of the morning.

Local attractions

Several excellent attractions lie around Maryport Marina and within very easy walking distance of the park. For a spot of local history, explore the exhibitions and collections at Senhouse Roman Museum and Maryport Maritime Museum. Or for something purely fun-based, take the kids for a day out to zoom around the tracks at West Coast Indoor Karting, or to marvel at the fish and other slimy sea creatures that inhabit the tanks at Lake District Coast Aquarium. If you’re into walking, then the highly scenic Cumbria Coastal Way long-distance footpath also passes through Maryport, and you can head along it in either direction for spectacular views out across miles upon miles of Cumbrian coastline. Tramp the path six miles north (or take the wheels out for a spin along the B5300) and you’ll happen upon the Victorian village of Allonby; wander around its cobbled streets spying such historic sights as the Old Baths, North Lodge, Christ Church, and the workingmen's Reading Rooms and check out the cheerfully painted homesteads along the way. As well as lots of history and a couple of award-winning beaches, the village also has some rather fine views across the Solway Estuary towards the mountains in the south of Scotland; for avid anglers, a local company also operates fishing trips off the Solway coast.
