Weekend away or Great place to start Hadrians wall walk from.
Power optional concrete and grass motorhome site
Liked Great hardstanding with grass pitches. It was quiet when we went so very peaceful. Amazing toilet block, very well thought out. Lovely on site pub and restaurant with nice meals.Great washing up facilities and washer dryer. Super friendly staff. Great little museum about the area. Lots of info boards around the village describing history. Shepherd huts looked lovely. If doing the hadrians wall path make sure to stamp your book at the official start. Worth a look around the little church next door. The most perfect place for a lazy weekend away.
Disliked Don't let the first impression of a bit of a building site put you off as its just work in progress and not an issue. Hope the toilets stay as pristine as they are. Could do with mops in there to mop shower spills. A microwave, kettle and toaster would be a great addition in the kitchen room maybe.
Great stay.

Power optional gravel motorhome site
Liked Excellent, clean facilities, peaceful location. Good spot for start/end of Hadrians Wall walk. Pub/cafe nearby. Good value
Disliked Couldn't find a bin for rubbish or recycling. In high season the site might feel cramped as hard gravel pitches quite close together so ok for 1 or 2 nights.
Facilities very clean. Everyone was helpful and a great atmosphere.
Power optional gravel motorhome site
Liked Close to start/ finish of the Hadrian's Wall path.
Various historic things to see and learn about close by.
Good facilities.
The food from the Bistro was excellent, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner on various days and was the best food we have eaten out in a very long time and was very reasonably priced.
Noisy, unfinished. Unpleasant staff ( exception of young barman)
Power optional concrete and grass motorhome site
Liked New, clean toilets/showers
Nice view to the front - to the rear was a construction site
Disliked Expected a peaceful, relaxing break. Woken by the strident tones of a forklift truck repeatedly reversing, followed up by a log splitter and loader and a cement mixer! Unable to upload a video which would demonstrate how loud this was. Staff less than sympathetic and not particularly polite when I expressed my displeasure. Manager/cook insists that pitch up description forewarns of building works (it doesn’t), then changes tack to “pitch up must have taken it off”
Food in on site bistro extremely poor quality. Cheap reconstituted chicken burgers and “plastic cheese” served with greasy, flabby chips and onion rings. The photograph of the steak pie is sufficient description.
We left a day early and stayed elsewhere.

Bistro on site food was fresh and delicious and well priced.
Gym was also well equipped.
Disliked Not a dislike but would have been handy to have a little print out of opening hours for shop pub etc. Where bins were and anything helpful like nearest supermarket etc
