  • Simple, spacious and dog-friendly pitches on a working farm
  • A 20-minute drive to Hadrian's Wall; 30 mins to Newcastle upon Tyne
  • Just over a mile from Hedley on the Hill and its award-winning pub
Take off to Tyne and Wear for a stay at a place thatā€™s peaceful, secluded and surrounded by splendid landscapesā€¦ Tyne View Camping, just over a mile from the pretty village of Hedley on the Hill, is part of a working farm where David and family look forward to welcoming guests to their lovely little patch of the countryside. As the name suggests, there are fabulous views out over the Tyne Valley from the pitches ā€“ and thereā€™s often plenty to look at by night too, as this is a great dark-sky area for stargazing. In keeping with the rural setting, things have been kept simple on site ā€“ youā€™ll have access to a water tap and toilets, but please note there are no showers. Thereā€™s oodles of space to play with too, so kids and dogs can have a good old run around and youā€™ll have space to set your pitch up just how you like it. That may well include bringing along a barbecue or firepit for a bit of outdoor cooking ā€“ both are permitted here, and you can pick up supplies at the shops in Prudhoe (10 minutesā€™ drive). Alternatively, you may well like to take a walk into Hedley on the Hill for dinner at an award-winning gastropub. As for non-meal-related outings, there are plenty of places nearby for a woodland walk, along with a couple of golf clubs and a gliding club. Hadrianā€™s Wall, Newcastle upon Tyne and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are all close by too, so thereā€™s potential to create a break packed with variety if you want toā€¦

Liked: Fab 1 night stay here. We all had a really good time.pub 5 minute walk away with a few games to keep children entertained with. Fields are a really good size so campers are spaced out. Really good value for money.will definitely be back

Unpowered grass caravan site

Liked: Booked last minute on a Friday night and arrived an hour or so later. Amazing views across the Tyne valley. Great pitch with so much room and the hosts were very accommodating, found us a great pitch and weā€™re mindful about the weeks of bad rain weā€™d had beforehand to get us somewhere that was dry and sheltered from any wind. Loads of room on the fields so my son could run around which he loved. Country pub 5 minutes walk away which had decent local ales and pop up pizza area in the garden. Will definitely be returning to this site!

Liked: Owners absolutely lovely. Couldnā€™t be more helpful. Fire pit wood wasnā€™t great. Grass could do with a cut. If youā€™re happy with basic camping experience/wild camping this is a great place. Views amazing! We would defo come again. Only not giving 5 stars because portaloo wouldnā€™t flush. And I needed my morning poo. I canā€™t poo on poo hahaha

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Stayed here for one night on a cycle camping trip with my son. Big dry field with hedges all around providing shelter. A couple of portaloos in one corner and a drinking water tap in the other. Perfect for what we needed. Good pre-arrival communication from David the landowner who had moved the site to a better drained field after heavy rain the week before. He came and said Hello when we'd arrived which is always nice.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Lovely, quiet site with beautiful views over the Tyne Valley. David was very helpful and easy to talk to. Chopwell Wood is a short drive away (10-15mins) with marked routes to choose from, we did a blue one for an evening stroll. Definitely recommended, especially if you are after a semi-wild campsite.

Liked: It was our first time camping with our little one so wanted to go not to far from home and this place was perfect , we took our dog also who loved the freedom of being off the lead the whole time . We initially were due to stay Saturday but due to the weather David let us move our booking to the Friday , he was really helpful and friendly . When we got there , there was only 2 other families camping so it was really quiet which was nice , we were allowed a bbq and fire pit and there was a portaloo on site . Chopwell woods are a 15 minute drive from the site . The sunsets was amazing to sit and look out on , if youā€™re after a basic site then this is perfect .
