  • Peaceful adults-only site on 17 rural acres, 15 minutes from Doncaster
  • Within an hour of York, the east coast and Peak District National Park
  • Well-stocked fishing lake plus spotless modern amenities
A chilled-out day of fishing, surrounded by 17 acres of woods and grassland for guaranteed peace and quiet while you’re at it: it doesn’t come much better than this… Well… unless you could stretch that serene vibe out by staying there overnight and coming back for a bit more tomorrow. And indeed you can at South Yorkshire site Beech Tree Park, where the pitches are handily placed a mere short saunter from the water’s edge – how’s that for easy access to a day (or preferably a few) of fishing? It’s unlikely that you’ve come here in search of noisy parties and non-stop entertainment, so the family-run site here has been kept accordingly low-key on the facilities front: free wifi, electric hook-ups and a toilet/shower block that’s reserved for overnight guests (with keys given out upon arrival to ensure no incursions by other passers by). Should you require a break from the lakeside action, this handy Hatfield Woodhouse location is well placed for easy comings and goings, with several main roads and motorways in the vicinity. Any requirements for urban amenities can be sorted in Doncaster, 15 minutes' drive away and your nearest hub for shops, restaurants and the like.

What customers say

Chill, tidy adult-only spot with top blokes running it. Clean loos, big sites, and a decent pub on-site. Fishing's a ripper. A bit of neighbourly noise and some bits could use a spruce, but they're onto it.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked It was ok!! Bit rough around certain parts

Disliked Where do i start !!
Once arriving, we saw a lady from the bar area, she came over, whilst on the phone, chatted on phone the just pointed to the pitch and said your over there. That was our welcome. The pitch itself was spacious, however straight at the back of the pitch was a old dug up sewage tank, with old water in the hole. The bar area was ok, however we didn't eat, due to the fact that the hands and nails of the lady behind the bar, didn't look clean. 2 horses next to cafe with large amounts of manuer all in there area. Right next to where you walk past.
The toilets and shower was ok, but could be better.
No water to wash/dip your fishing nets.
Disturbance in night with police having to be called.

From the manager: We would not normally respond to this kind of review as everyone is allowed their freedom of speech & be able to give their own opinion, however... As this appears to be a very personal attack on a singular member of staff who was under immense pressure & very short staffed, we feel we should respond & address your points raised here & publicly as you never gave us the opportunity to address your issues/concerns (Nor said a single word about any of these points to any member of staff during your stay) while on site, as well as never formally checking out & tailgated another car in order to leave site.
When you arrived you rang the reception phone which was answered in the very busy bar, the lady you speak about in your review was also already on an emergency phone call sorting a very urgent matter out with the site owners, the site was packed & the call had already been stopped several times due to dealing with other customers, unfortunately the call was also time sensitive & could not be ended again. You were told while waiting to check in by other customers that the staff were very busy but are on their way. We have always prided ourselves on excellent friendly welcomes as our previous reviews show & we can only apologise you did not receive our normal standard welcome due to the extreme circumstances prior to & during your arrival.
Your pitch: as this was the only pitch available on your arrival we could not place you anywhere else, however, if we had been made aware you were not happy with your pitch we could have moved you later on in the afternoon as we had 4 cancellations due to the storm warnings. With no knowledge of your disapproval we were not able to offer you this opportunity. The septic tank is not old, it's brand new & in the process of being fitted, due to the bad weather this work has had to be halted, hence it lifting & the water in the hole. This is something out of our control & we can't control the weather (I'd like to add that with being brand new it is empty so does not smell!. Again, if this had been mentioned to us, we could have explained this to you.
To address the nails & hands of our bar staff, all our staff constantly wash their hands & wear gloves when cooking & working in the bar/ kitchen area. CCTV has been watched back & at no point have any staff not followed hygiene rules at any time. The lady in question has no nails due to the nature of her work; they are kept very short. Due to trapping her hands in a car boot a week ago all her nails are black, fingers & hands are bruised & cut caused by the severe injuries as well as general skin discoloration. Again, had this been mentioned, it could have been addressed & any worries dealt with.
(these comments & insinuations have deeply upset & offended the staff member, she is already going above & beyond continuing to work with broken fingers & is in constant pain with the injuries to both hands)
Horse Manure, we have never ever had any complaints about the horses or their waste before & they are cleaned up after daily but due to the storm we were unable to do this & missed 1 day. Not really sure what we can do about this, its nature & as said above we cannot control the weather.
Finally the police on site... This was a brief loud argument between 4 people who were way too drunk. we were called to attend, we did immediately & within a few minutes everyone was in bed.
unbeknown to us the police had been called by someone, not by us! the caller had blown the incident all out of proportion. When the police arrived, they asked where everyone was & were told everyone was already in bed, had a quick look round, complimented us on a lovely site & left. This is only the second time in 11 years they have been called & both times they were not actually needed or called upon by us.
We we only alerted to the bad review you have left by other customers staying on site, they were all very saddened by it as they had a totally different view/experience of their stay with us.
In summary all we can do is apologise that you felt this way but clearly if you had spoken to any member of staff during your stay we would have quickly & easily been able to address all your above mentioned points.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Very spacious level fully serviced pitch, with beautiful surroundings and spotless toilet and shower facilities. Very easy to get to. Friendly staff.

Disliked Some rubbish left behind by other campers, broken umbrella, scruffy Teddy bear, cable ties and wires etc, this made the area next to our pitch look at little untidy. We realise this is not the owners fault but it could be easily resolved.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Dawn and Col are a real credit to the campsite — absolute legends. They work incredibly hard to keep everything running like clockwork, and it truly shows.

Dawn, in particular, seems to take on a million and one roles, all carried out to an exceptionally high standard. From reception and welcoming guests, to managing the gate, cleaning, working behind the bar, and even cooking — it’s honestly hard to understand how she keeps it all going without a break.

In our honest opinion, the campsite would really benefit from more staff. Dawn is clearly a fantastic leader, and with a larger team supporting her and Col, this place could thrive even further.

Keep up the amazing work, Dawn and Col — but please don’t run yourselves into the ground. You both deserve proper support and recognition for everything you do.

Stables 1 bedroom cottage / chalet / bungalow (hot tub, no pets)

Liked Hosts were lovely and accommodating. Decorated for valentines off their own back which was a nice surprise. Clean and modern facilities, nice small lakes to walk around. The hot tub was much enjoyed will hopefully be back and definitely recommend. Provided valentines snacks and a bottle of bucks fizz too!!

Lovely surprise the added extras and the hosts couldn't have done more super friendly and relaxed.

Extra bonus were the two horses which loved our carrot and apple treats 😋.

Disliked Few cobwebs but no spiders and some of the lights flickered but does not affect the stay. Poor service so 5G is slow but does work! WiFi is available for £5 per day if needed.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Fantastic customer service. I was due to arrive later than final check in but the staff stayed late to let me in and couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. Pitches are good and level. Toilets and showers were very clean.

Local attractions

The fishing’s the main thing here, but it’s far from the only thing… you could easily fill many a day touring the surrounds too. If you want that nature hit with a bit more activity, you might like to head west for an hour or so to hike or bike in the Peak District National Park, or plot a course east to hit the coast at Cleethorpes in roughly the same length of time. Rather watch other folks doing all the energetic things? (Fair enough, you’re on hols…) The famed Doncaster Racecourse is 20 minutes away; if there’s nothing on there, check out the course at York (50 minutes away) instead. York’s worth a visit even if you’re not into the horses: the minster, the National Railway Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre are among the reasons to visit, and the historic centre is fab for an amble. Guests with an eye for all things that go may want to take a trip into Doncaster to see a splendid collection of historic planes at South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum (20 minutes) or book ahead to get up close to the groundbreaking Vulcan that resides at the National Aviation Academy (10 minutes). If you prefer your attractions living and breathing, hit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park (15 minutes) instead.
