What customers say
Spacious, private pitches with great Pennine views. Owners are friendly & helpful, facilities are clean & the location is handy, especially the pub. A peaceful, good-value spot many return to. Some minor noise/development mentioned, but mostly top marks.

Powered grass and gravel tent, campervan or trailer tent site
Liked I had an absolutely amazing 2 nights on this site. Booked and turned up an hour later (after a horrible experience at my planned site) and received a lovely warm welcome from the owner. He gave me a choice of pitches, provided me with all the info on facilities and was very welcoming.
I chose a large, well kept pitch with an incredible view… sunset spoiled only by the clouds!
This site is very peaceful, some traffic noise from the A road nearby but overall a very relaxing site and perfect for what I needed.
Facilities are basic but clean and functional.
I’ll definitely be staying here again.

Site has a lot of work to be done to bring up to a good standard!
Powered concrete and grass caravan site
Liked Friendliness of owner!
Hot water in showers and other areas!
Good size pitches!
Disliked The site has a lot of potential but I’m
afraid it has a lot to be done to bring up to a good standard! Nothing seems to be finished!

Beautiful campsite but wouldn't return for reasons above.
Powered grass and gravel tent, campervan or trailer tent site
Liked Beautiful views and scenery, great location with access to lots of places and 10 minutes drive to town with supermarkets. Plenty of hot water for showers. Once arrived the owners left us to our own devices and we didn't feel like we were being checked up on as has happened in some campsites we've stayed at. Saw some wildlife including several flocks of geese and stunning sunsets.
Disliked Shabby toilets and shower rooms, cobwebs on the doors and walls which had clearly not been hoovered or swept for some time. Still no lock on one of the men's toilet door, despite others leaving these reviews. No towels or hand dryers in the toilets. Showers had concrete flooring which water seeped on to. Ongoing building work which was noisy at times. Such a shame as there is so much potential.

Good location, acceptable site, but poor value for money.

Liked Location : good access to N Pennines, Hadrians Wall, Beamish.
Views: stunning
Level pitches
Lots of hot water.
Pub next door with lovely view from garden.
Disliked Poor value for money, we've paid alot less for much better set up and facilities. We paid £35/night, I would value this site at £25-28.
Some pitches do not have view. Building work going on. Pitches felt unkempt and weedy. Basic shower and toilets, shower screen not wide enough and floor flooded, no mats. Needs duck b9ards at least. Loads of toilet paper in first couple of days, started to run out quickly and not replaced. Toilet and shower block fabric very rough and ready.
Minimal welcome to the site, no info given as to where everything was eg water, chemical disposal, bins.
No recycling bin.
Would be good to have local information board, maps for walking and cycling.
No obvious walking or cycling routes direct from site.

Liked Stunning views.
Really friendly welcome and the owner was really helpful.
Spacious, well laid out pitches and we liked the fact that they all had a bit of privacy about them via fences and hedges.
Nice pub next door with a friendly local feel about it.
Nearby Derwent Reservoir is a must-visit.
Disliked Only constructive suggestion would be for a lock to be installed in the second gents toilet.
