Wee Brave camping pod (four person)

Liked: Stayed in a wee wigwam for one night on our way back from Scotland. The hut was warm and comfortable and had more space than expected. The mini kitchenette was great. Great facilities for families. The site was very clean and well organised. Make sure you check out the beautiful view from the top of the hill!

Wee Brave camping pod (four person)

Liked: Beautiful site in gorgeous surroundings. They've really thought of everything - petting farm with feeding times that children can help with, sauna, hot tubs, plenty of open green space for the kids to run around in, baths, vending machines, a shop, pizzas, firepits etc. Highly recommend!

Disliked: Nothing to dislike. Maybe better if closer to a pub. But not really an issue for me

Liked: Beautiful, peaceful location with terrific views. Modern facilities, spacious pitches, good hot showers with good water pressure. Communal room with sink, microwave, hot drinks and vending machine. Just very well thought out and amazing, probably the best site we’ve ever stayed on. No loud music, no noisy kids. Shame it was just one night.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Nice stable flat grass pitch with EHU. Fantastic welcome from Sue on reception who was very helpful and informative. Facilities were great, indoor toilets and heated shower block complete with a sauna. Pizza available from reception and vending machines in the communal area. Great location with stunning views, pretty much in the centre of Great Britain (although google may say otherwise). Petting animals nearby for young children and ‘adult children’ alike. The Wi-Fi worked too!

Disliked: Booked via pitch-up, site didn’t receive our booking, however fortunately there was one space left on arrival and Sue was really helpful.

Liked: Lovely site well maintained, clean and tidy. Facilities are good, showers and toilets clean and well equipped. Touring pitches are big and each is screened off with shrubs, some are fully serviced. Good views over Haltwhistle from the hill to the side of the site and a few paddocks of animals to look at, donkey, alpacas, goats etc
Its a bit of a hike to the town of Haltwhistle but I noticed a service bus stopping at the gates of the site. Site rules for being quiet after 10.30 are given on arrival. There is a good motorhome service point

Disliked: Only one dislike which is only a personal preference, the Elsan is at the motorhome service point right at the front of the amenities block so a bit public for me, usually best out of the way at the rear

Local attractions

You can walk to Hadrian’s Wall in 15 minutes, or otherwise take the AD122 Hadrian’s Wall bus service, which stops right outside and runs to all the major Roman sites. The forts of Birdoswald, Vindolanda and Housesteads are within 15 minutes’ drive, while the Roman Army Museum is 10 minutes away and The Sill: National Landscape Discovery Centre (five minutes) acts as both an interpretation centre and a hub for walkers. If the kids are a bit resistant to Roman heritage, try them on the tractor rides and soft-play centre at Walby Farm Park (half an hour), or set them up with dinghy sailing, duck feeding and wildlife-themed sculpture trails at Talkin Tarn Country Park (20 minutes). For wild hiking adventures over hill and dale, head for Northumberland National Park (35 minutes) or the rugged North Pennines National Landscape (20 minutes). For something more family-friendly, most kids will be happy with pottering sections of the Lakeside Way around Kielder Water (45 minutes) while watching out for the birds of prey that make Kielder Forest their home.
