  • Small adults-only site in rural North Yorkshire
  • A five-minute drive from Ravenscar; Scarborough 15 minutes
  • Just off the Cinder Track; access to car-free trails; honesty shop
Whitby or Scarborough? Scarborough or Whitby? At Valley View Camping, kiss that age-old dilemma goodbye and settle down somewhere with easy access to both of North Yorkshire's most popular seaside resorts. Driving to either is a breeze – Scarborough is 15 minutes away by road, while you can reach Whitby in about 20. But there are rewards for travelling under your own steam too – the site is a few minutes' walk from the Cinder Track, a traffic-free bike and walking trail that connects up Yorkshire's seaside capitals, passing through lots of scenic spots that you might otherwise miss. Valley View Camping's level grounds are small in scale and overlook peaceful open countryside. It's an adults-only setup too, so the place should stay nice and peaceful while you relax, perhaps settling in for drinks and meals on the picnic tables provided (you're welcome to bring along a barbecue to create those meals if you like). Other facilities on site include an honesty shop, showers, toilets and chemical disposal. In need of village amenities? Here you're a five-minute drive from Ravenscar's tea rooms, public toilets and stony beach. The nearest farm shop is three miles to the south in Cloughton Newlands. When you arrive, just park up and pick your pitch (with any awnings to the right, please).

What customers say

This adults-only park's a ripper for a quiet country escape, with stunner views and easy access to the Cinder Track for a wander or cycle. Blokes rave about the spotless, modern loos and showers, and the handy shared kitchen. Some spots are a bit lumpy, but it's tidy and chill, a top base for checking out the North Yorkshire coast.

Unpowered concrete and grass tent or motorhome site

Liked A great location, clean facilities and well stocked honesty shop. The site was well kept. Shower block is newly built. Arrive and choose your own pitch. There a picnic benches for your use on area, hill, to the side of the tent pitches. Some pitches are on a slight incline, this wasn’t a problem for us. Can walk to Ravenscar/Robin Hood’s Bay or to Hayburn Wyke via the cinder track and coastal pat

Unpowered concrete and grass tent or motorhome site

Liked The location was superb, we were lucky to have a sea view. The site was very quiet, very little other noise. The shower and toilet block is newly built with a well stocked honesty shop where the previous showers were located. The shop had an everything from a great selection of cheeses, bacon to toiletries and camping products. Pitches were flat. This was our 2nd visit, previous one before the campsite was extended, will definitely be back.

Unpowered concrete and grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Second stay at Valley View and the site has been expanded and improved since our last visit. The old toilet/shower cabin is now a very well stocked honesty shop selling camping essentials, wood/kindling, food basics and treats such as cake and pies (use it or lose it). The unisex toilets are much improved along with 2 unisex showers in a new block along with a new washing up area, complete with campers fridge, microwave and kettle. There is WiFi but we didn’t use it.
The hardstandings are small but will become more private once the separating hedges grow in.
Adults only site which is great but it’s also quiet, it’s not a party site. Easy to get onto the Cinder Track for walks direct from site and Ravenscar is a couple of miles down the road. Scarborough and Whitby not far away either.
We will be back again

Disliked Most tent and hard standing pitches by the barn have no view. That’s ok for us but others may be put off by it.
There is some road noise but that’s only an issue for use because of our traffic noise sensitive dog.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Showers, honesty shop, owner, access to Cinder Trail, horses, quiet site, dark sky site, really good 4g signal.

Disliked Fridge for food and freezer packs was a tad small considering the number of tent campers.

Unpowered concrete and grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Everything. You could pick your pitch. Pitches are plenty big enough and no cheeky extra charges for this or that like we’re starting to see at a lot of sites. They’re fine with chargrill BBQs plus small fires which is also lovely and perfect for especially those that camp on a slightly cooler night. We loved the honesty shop! Like a little treasure den. Had everything ! New toilet blocks spacious and clean and the water was hot. You’re on the main road to either Scarborough - 15 min drive or Robin Hoods bay- 20 mins drive or Whitby - 35 min drive or Staithes 45 mins drive . 3 local lovely pubs serving delish food. Nearest was a 5 min drive. A lovely little grassy walk round the site perfect for dogs but this also lead to the main cinder track where you can walk to Scarborough or robin hoods bay. We also visited Boggle hole beach and YHA for coffee and cake one day- a little enchanted place. Loads to see and do. All you can hear at night and in a morning is sheep horses and a local owl. A perfect place. We’ve re booked already for August.

Disliked That there was no plug sockets to dry your hair in the shower rooms or toilets. Understand the shower/water/ electric issue but thought they would be fine and safe in the toilets. Had to dry my hair in the wash room which didn’t seem fair when people are trying to wash their pots.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked The place was so clean .Kitchen area, Toilets and showers cleaned daily, toilet roll and paper towels provided; and squeegees and mops in showers so everyone can leave the shower clean for the next person.
There is an honesty shop eith a vast array of supplies Horses in their fields to see every day and they also have a large bird coup that houses Doves and Swallows which we loved to watch every morning and early evening. But no noise at all from the coup. You wouldn't know it was one unless you arecin the vantage spot where we were; to the side of it.
And everyone was so friendly. Throughly enjoyed our stay. 3 sisters and one little dog . And no one under 16 is allowed on this site.

Disliked Not an actual dislike just a point that may help others . The map on the kitchen wall was too small ( for me anyway) to veiw. We used Google maps to find the walk to the Haywood Wyke waterfall. And we're sure it took us miles out of the way before we came across the Cleveland way path. If the farm have a close path to this it would be good to be highlighted.
Not sure if it was my phone, but I couldn't get access to the WiFi, but got a signal so able to use my data.
