Local attractions

Day at the beach anyone? You have an option for most requirements. Try buzzy Bridlington (20 minutes’ drive) for coastline cruises on ‘The Yorkshire Belle’, or see the Bronze Age and Roman relics displayed at Scarborough Castle (half an hour) before a dip in the sea. A couple of quieter local beaches are dog friendly, so walk your canine companions along the strand at Filey (15 minutes) or Hunmanby Sands (10 minutes). Should you wish for bracing rambles, walk along the cliffs to Flamborough Head (25 minutes). Moving inland, you have the option of long-distance hikes and cycle rides along the Yorkshire Wolds Way (20 minutes), as well as myriad trails in the North York Moors National Park (40 minutes). Make a whole day of it with a sightseeing visit to historic York (an hour), where you can learn about our Scandinavian invaders at Jorvik Viking Centre, cruise down the River Ouse by boat and walk around the medieval walls for spectacular views of the city’s landmark Gothic-era minster, its spires and ornate, stained-glass Rose Window.

2 bedroom camping pod

Liked: We loved the location of the pod within easy reach of several beaches. The pod was impeccably clean and well furnished.
And we loved the hot tub!

Disliked: We enjoyed our stay so I'm being pedantic here but we would have welcomed a cheese grater and pizza slicer, and a long handled brush to sweep the kitchen floor occasionally. Small gripes though which didn't spoil our fun.
