  • Family-oriented Co. Durham glampsite on the edge of Shildon
  • Walk to Locomotion railway museum in 20 minutes; Durham 25 mins' drive
  • Restaurant and fishing on site; private hot tub for each unit
Take it easy in the Co. Durham countryside – everything at Eden Grange Glamping has been set up with relaxing family breaks in mind. Whether you’re stopping over for a night to break up a journey on the A1(M) or using the place as a base for a longer stay, you’ll be made to feel very welcome at this comfortable site on the edge of Shildon. There’s a laidback rural atmosphere on site, with each of the glamping units surrounded by trees and overlooking lakes where you can go fishing. The centre of town is only just over a mile away, however, so you’ll be within easy reach of shops, places to eat and things to do (including the leisure centre, the heritage trail, walks in Hackworth Park and events at the civic hall or the local football club. You can also easily walk to Locomotion, part of the National Railway Museum, in about 20 minutes. If you don’t fancy heading into town, it’s handy to know that there’s also a restaurant on site, which serves up breakfasts and dinners that you can eat in or take back to your accommodation. You’ll have your own kitchen facilities too, so you’ll be able to conjure up your own meals if you prefer. The kitchen is just one of the facilities that’s included with the accommodation here – each one also has a proper bed, an ensuite bathroom, heating and bedding and towels provided. Outside is just as lovely – each unit has its own private outdoor space, so you’ll really feel able to relax out there. There’s outdoor seating, a firepit and (the ultimate luxury?) your own private hot tub.

Fully-serviced concrete slab motorhome site

Liked - Easy and smooth check-in process.
- Very friendly and welcoming staff.
- Clean and well-maintained toilet facilities.
- Quiet, secluded motorhome pitches – great for a peaceful stay.
- Walkable to the Locomotion Museum, which was a great local attraction.

Disliked - Access to some pitches was awkward due to anglers blocking the way. When we asked them to move on departure day, a few were quite rude.

- The on-site café closes early, and the food was poor quality and overpriced (£7 for scrambled eggs!).

- There’s not much else in the local town. We walked around in the evening and sadly experienced some harassment from locals, which left us feeling uncomfortable.

Very nice well kept site, warm clean cossy pods.

Fully-serviced concrete slab motorhome site

Liked Great site in an outstanding setting. Walks around the lakes were pretty. Layout is great. We were in our VW Camper . The glamping pods looked gorgeous ! Much more to come too apparently. Was a pleasure to meet Stuart who is very passionate about upgrading his site and adding lovely extras for guests.
So we would like to wish Stuart and his family/team all the best with their site.
Hopefully we will get to return in the future.
Kind Regards
Simon and Sarah

Fully-serviced concrete slab motorhome site (hot tub)

Liked Location on the lane was lovely & hot tub was ready for us to use.
Very helpful staff and very friendly

Disliked Toilets were clean & today but ran out of toilet roll quickly so we had to take our own (no real hardship)

£20 per night for a small dog was a little excessive….i can understand in the pods etc but given we had a campervan not sure what the expense was for?

Excellent site, very relaxing
