  • Dog-friendly site with scenic countryside views in Co. Durham
  • A five-minute drive to Diggerland Durham and 35 minutes to the coast
  • Firepits allowed; walking trails around the site; farm shop nearby
You’ll want to place Foxcover Wood Campsite firmly on your radar, as this dog-friendly site delivers some seriously scenic views over the Co. Durham countryside. The landscapes are trails galore as you might expect, but it’s not just rural wanders that make this place so attractive. It’s also within reach of a variety of days out, whether that’s shopping till you drop in Newcastle upon Tyne (half an hour’s drive), a beach day down on Seaham’s shore (35 minutes) or navigating a real-life digger in Diggerland Durham (five minutes). You may be planning on packing a picnic for one of your rambles and luckily, you’ll be able to get a good spread going, thanks to the farm shop 35 minutes’ walk to the east of the site. Outdoor firepits are permitted on site too, so some nibbles to gnash on later in the day might come in handy. The site welcomes dogs so you won’t be missing any canine family members while on your hols. They should be kept to outdoor spaces only and kept on a lead at all times. There are multiple walking trails around the site, so it’s easy to get their exercise in (and yours too). There’s no gas or electricity around the site, but multiple solar lights show the way around in the dark. As for doing your business, there’s an outdoor toilet in a wooden shack, with a sink outside, so you won’t be without the basics here.
