Power optional concrete slab caravan site

Liked: Really clean toilet/shower block. The peaceful atmosphere, the park, the walks, the maze, the animals. Me & my son really enjoyed our night and will return. Slept lovely

Disliked: Noise from road but this can not be helped, becomes almost white noise & once in our camper we could not hear it. We didn't get to stay longer Pay extra for electricity

Power optional grass site

Liked: Great new toilet and shower block, good kids playground, shop and restaurant. Well organised site, clear rules and good security. Staff helpful and pleasant. Not our usual taste in sites, but a convenient local option to get tent dried out!

Disliked: We knew it is close to the road, but the tent pitches are the worst for it. Our pitch was less level then we hoped - quite distinct slope to the side. Tent pitches are a small minority - site very focused on holiday homes, static and touring caravans.

Local attractions

Thorpe Farm Centre's location in Co. Durham bordering North Yorkshire on the A66 puts it in nifty position for days out of all kinds by foot, pedal or car. If you want to investigate the surrounding area by foot, a shortcut to the A66 gives access to many more walking paths as well as cycling trails; a map is available at the site shop with details. The seventeenth century country house of Rokeby Park is just around the corner from the farm, and it's about ten minutes' drive to Barnards Castle, an old market town with pubs, shops, restaurants, the Bowes Museum and its castle high on a rock above the River Tees. The farm is nine miles west of Scotch Corner in the countryside of Teesdale and 15 miles from Richmond in the Yorkshire Dales. Raby Castle, Eggleston Hall, High Force Waterfall (England’s highest, foam fans) and Middleton in Teesdale are also within driving distance.
