General
- Simple and peaceful semi-wild site 10 minutes' drive from Woodbridge
- A 15-minute drive to Sutton Hoo; half an hour to Aldeburgh
- Pitches of a third of an acre; easy access to walks and bike rides
Martins Meadows is a peaceful spot in the Suffolk countryside, a couple of miles from Clopton and a 10-minute drive from Woodbridge.
This is the sort of site to head to if you’re after a simple, quiet time surrounded by lots of open space. It stretches out over four acres but with only a handful of guests on site you can look forward to about a third of an acre for each pitch (you’ll probably see more sheep than tents). Usually some of each pitch is left unmown so you’ll have some long grass around for a bit of seclusion and privacy.
It’s a semi-wild setup here, with no electricity or hot water and just simple facilities including portaloos, a cold water supply and a washing-up area. Chickens and sheep enjoy a quiet life on the farm, so although well-behaved dogs are welcome on site you’ll need to make sure they’re kept under control at all times and not left unattended.
Barbecues are permitted on site, and you can pick up supplies for such things at either a farm shop or a supermarket, both of which are within a 10-minute drive.
Getting out for a walk or bike ride is straightforward from this site as there are plenty of footpaths and quiet lanes nearby. Days out nearby might include history-based wanders at Sutton Hoo, Helmingham Hall and Framlingham Castle or coastal days in Orford and Aldeburgh (both half an hour away).
