General
- Rural site on a small traditional farm, 10 minutes' drive from Reepham
- Around half an hour's drive from the Norfolk Broads and the coast
- Dogs and barbecues welcome; pubs within a 10-minute drive
If you’re honing in on a handy spot for travels around north Norfolk, it could be suggested that Mayfields Farm – a quiet site on a small traditional grassland farm in the tiny hamlet of Themelthorpe – is in the best of locations.
And why? Because this park, under 10 minutes’ drive from Reepham, is within 45 minutes of the coast, the Norfolk Broads, stately attractions such as Sandringham and the city of Norwich – in short, all the hotspots for a varied hol in the east of England.
When you’re staying put, there’s also plenty of space on site for spreading out: each of the pitches is large enough for a family-sized tent, campervan or caravan, and has access to a water supply, flushing toilets and phone charging facilities. Bringing along kids that want to really get stuck into their surroundings? Take them over to the education area and they’ll get to know a bit more about country life.
Being a laidback rural kind of place, dogs are also most welcome here, as are barbecues for alfresco meals. Supplies can be picked up in Reepham (which also has pubs for those who’d rather outsource the catering).
If you’re on a hol here for the outdoorsy life, it’s useful to note that the popular Marriott’s Way walking/bike path is a short walk away from the farm.

Local attractions
Norfolk has 90 miles of coastline, masses of pretty countryside, a host of key nature reserves, the Broads National Park and fab forests to explore – essentially, it’s a dream destination for a break.
But what to do first? Well, you could wander around the town and beach of Wells-next-the-Sea (half an hour's drive), get a glimpse of the cathedral, castle and aviation museum in Norwich (35 minutes) or have a gander at Holkham Hall (stately home with its walled garden, lake and woodland (35 minutes).
If the coast is definitely where you want to be, bound over to Blakeney Point for seal spotting (35 minutes) or crack on to Cromer and have a go at crabbing in this beach resort known for its crustaceans (40 minutes).
More into stately homes than seaside roams? Set off for Sandringham to see Queen Elizabeth’s pad (40 minutes); King’s Lynn (50 minutes) also has a clutch of cool architecture to gaze at, including England’s biggest and best-preserved medieval guildhall.
