Liked: Well maintained site. Friendly and helpful rangers. Basic facilities, but clean and all provided that was needed for a peaceful anf simple break. As a woman on my own for 7 nights, I felt completely safe. Excellent coffee from the Hungry Otter. Close proximity to Norwich and also the coast, yet in a peaceful village m, right by the water.

Liked: The ranger was friendly, there was only us, our friends and one other person camping. The site is quiet, beautiful, clean, portaloos were spotless. There's a communal firepit. True hidden gem!

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked: Had a tap and 2 compost toilets and 2 portaloos. It was really quiet on a Sunday night. I had the site to myself with one other tent, and the screaching owl and the pheasants, and the odd plane overhead. Didn't bother me though. The water activities looked fun.

Disliked: Tricky to find, but the ranger helped give directions.

Set off by foot, bike, car (or canoe where possible) to explore the area, either around the Broads and countryside setting or a bit further afield to Norwich. Particularly recommended by the knowledgeable team are Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens (10 minutes’ drive), 130 acres of woodland, lakes and garden with woodland paths and regular events, and Wroxham Barns (15 minutes’ drive), an award-winning attraction with funfair, a petting farm, a mini golf course and indoor play. Within 10 minutes, drive to Ranworth and follow the boardwalk from the car park by Malthouse Broad, to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's floating Broads Wildlife Centre.

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Chinese lanterns and disposable barbecues are not permitted.

You must park in the Salhouse Broad car park and walk down the path to the Broad and Camping Corner. Due to the remote location, this is the closest access to the Camping Corner.

Fires are only allowed in the communal firepits. In particularly dry periods the site will apply a ‘no fire’ policy due to dry grass and fire risk. Please look out for signs or ask the ranger.

The site has portable toilets within the main camping area for guests to use.
