A cosy, welcoming spot in a quiet village. Top marks for the grub and friendly hosts. Clean facilities with plenty of hot water. Handy shop & pub, plus lovely walks. A few folks found it a bit basic or dated.

Just so we’re sure!!!!! The toilets are cleaned once a day and checked there after… if they’re in a mess then again they’re cleaned. Now here’s the problem!!! It’s not my job to tell people to use a toilet brush or leave the shower in a fashion that they would like to find it. Between late evening and early morning the shower and toliets sadly can’t be checked!!! So did you clean up after yourself or did you leave it for someone else to do and then complain. Did someone other than yourself leave a mess which you then found and have complained about!!… at no point did you come and find ANYBODY and say anything!!!! Hi Mike your shower and toilets a mess…. Thanks for letting me know i’ll go and sort it!!! I’m not a mind reader nor do I profess to be…. Complaints are easily sorted if you SAY something… or you could just go home and right a review and make yourself feel better…….. but!!! It didn’t get the toilets cleaned during your stay!!!!!

Liked We have just had a lovely quiet weekend break at the Red Lion, Sue could not have been any more accommodating, fitting us in for dinner even though they were super busy and the food was amazing. We will definitely be staying here again, thanks for having us.

Liked The camp site was good great amenities. The man who runs the camp site couldn't be nicer

Disliked The owners of the pub were rude and condescending. As a result I will not be returning. The older woman inside the restaurant area in the bar made us feel as welcome as a bout of diarrhea.

Liked Great site, small and welcoming. Owners and bar staff were amazing. Friendly and very accommodating. Food and drink at the pub was excellent and great value. We were celebrating a 50th birthday and would definitely go back again

Local attractions

Activities on the river Waveney might have already given you a taste for the water… and if that’s the case, you can’t go far wrong with a beach day. While the valley scenery might suggest otherwise, the coast is within driving distance and that includes Southwold beach (45 minutes' drive), a sandy stretch with an amusement arcade on the pier and good windsurfing conditions, and Aldeburgh beach (55 minutes), known for its tasty fish and chips. Those of you who have kids fond of animals, Banham Zoo (half an hour) might be one afternoon out to add to the itinerary, while Camel Park Oasis (15 minutes) is another with camels in the limelight. And for a place with play areas and farm animals, Easton Farm Park (35 minutes) is your guy. To switch things up with a history-geared visit, you’ll have your pick of a few places, including the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum (10 minutes), The 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum (10 minutes) for historical accounts of American involvement in World War II and Bressingham Steam & Gardens (25 minutes) for a steam museum and gardens… or steam train trip of your own aboard one of the trains that are in action.
