  • Peaceful family-run, family-friendly site in the Cambridgeshire Fens
  • A 10-minute drive from Wisbech and 25 minutes from King’s Lynn
  • Heated outdoor pool, fully licensed bar and small shop on site
Fancy spending getaways unwinding at a spacious and peaceful spot close to beaches and hikes, stately piles and bikes? If yes, make your way to Parklands Holidays, a family-friendly (and family-run) site about 10 minutes’ drive from the Cambridgeshire town of Wisbech. The site’s handily placed for explores of all types… It’s within the Cambridgeshire Fens, so rambles, rides and horseback trots are all within easy reach, and boating excursions are just a narrowboat hire away in March, about 30 minutes from base. Beach days should round out hols nicely too, with a 40-minute jaunt to the nearest sandy stretch at Snettisham. On lazier days hours can be filled quite easily on site, where a heated outdoor pool is waiting to be splashed about in, a play area will keep the kids busy if mum and dad need a break, and a licensed bar is open every weekend for a few drinks. When hunger needs to be satisfied, the small shop on site is well stocked with everyday essentials, and a quick trip to Wisbech's supermarkets should sort everything else. Want to keep up with the news while out of the rat race? Order the papers in the on-site shop and they’ll be delivered right to the door every morning.

Local attractions

The town of Wisbech, 10 minutes’ drive from the site, is an absolute must to start off holiday adventures. Elgood’s Brewery will satisfy fans of ale and craft beers, while avid historians will be keen to explore Wisbech Castle, the Wisbech and Fenland Museum, the spectacular Peckover House and Garden, and the house where Octavia Hill (arguably the founder of modern social work) was born. If hols involve burning a hole in wallets, there are plenty of shops to rifle through in Wisbech and, if longer drives aren't an issue, Springfields Outlet Shopping is 25 minutes away for some high-end bargains, kid-sized diversions at Adventure Land, and outdoor wanders through the Festival Gardens. Soothing afternoons can be spent out and about on the links, with Tydd St Giles Golf and Country Club less than five minutes from base and Gedney Hill Golf Club 20 minutes away; both are 18-hole, 70-par courses. If you agree with Mark Twain that golf is a good walk spoiled though, opt for a patch of lake shore instead – North View Fishing Lakes’ three lakes are 20 minutes from the site. For a touch more history, it’s a 25-minute journey to King’s Lynn, where museums lay out the history of the seaport, medieval remains dot the streets of the town, and the stunning Oxburgh Hall and Her Majesty’s country residence (Sandringham) are each within easy reach.
