  • Back-to-basics site on a smallholding in Wyre Piddle
  • Worcester, Bredon Hill and Broadway all within a 25-minute drive
  • Walk to local pub in seven minutes, or Pershore in 20 minutes
Lovely rural walk by day and a brief (or not) stop in the local pub on the way home – what a lovely schedule for a day off. If you’re the kind of person that appreciates these sorts of breaks full of simple pleasures, you’ll be in your element at Piddle Hill Campsite. This back-to-basics site is part of a smallholding in Wyre Piddle, a little Worcestershire village on the banks of the River Avon. It’s a simple and laidback place where you can pick your own pitch in the sheltered field and put your awning, gazebo and table up. Kids and dogs are welcome, but the latter will need to be kept on leads as there are sheep on site. The basic facilities here include portable toilets, a shower, a drinking water supply and a chemical disposal point; the barn also sometimes hosts pop-up breakfast and coffee vendors. The aforementioned pub is a handy seven minutes’ walk away, with a food shop just a little further along; there are also plenty of shops and places to eat a couple of miles away in Pershore. Having Pershore close by is also a useful thing for getting about, as it means the railway station is only about 20 minutes’ walk (or five minutes’ drive) away. And despite the site’s rural location, there’s easy access from the motorway network too: a 15-minute drive along an A road gets you to junction 7 of the M5.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Location was excellent with an easy walk into the village and a good pub. Campsite itself was friendly and welcoming, with great coffee on offer in the barn. The barn itself offered a wonderful laid back festival feel. The facilities are no frills but spotlessly clean and provide what you need (toilets/shower). We would love to return for a longer stay.

Local attractions

You’ll be able to see Bredon Hill from the site, and that may well inspire you to get out for a walk over there. It’s about 20 minutes’ drive away, and worth the climb for the sweeping views across the countryside to the Malvern Hills. And if those Malvern Hills views have inspired you again? Well, it’s easy to get over there for more walks along trails at Worcestershire Beacon (35 minutes’ drive) or British Camp Hill Fort (40 minutes). The Cotswolds National Landscape is close by too, for visits to Broadway (25 minutes) and Stow-on-the-Wold (40 minutes). Alternatively, opt for a leisurely stroll through the meadows to Pershore (20 minutes' walk) to visit the abbey, indie shops and monthly market. Other days out might take you to the spectacularly grand Eastnor Castle (35 minutes), to Worcester for the cathedral and Museum of Royal Worcester (20 minutes) or the family-friendly animal attractions of All Things Wild (25 minutes).
