General

  • At the foot of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
  • Seven miles from Tewkesbury
  • Near country pubs, vineyards and the Three Counties Showground

Take your wheels to this peaceful place to be in scenic setting among classic Worcestershire farmland, within 400 yards of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to pubs, vineyards, events and the Three Counties Showground. Tewkesbury, the Forest of Dean, Worcester and Gloucester are all within a short drive.

Redbrick Barn Campsite is designed for autonomous caravans and motorhomes where guests have all they need on the road with them. There are no shower and toilet blocks set among this spacious green setting, but power and water are on site for your convenience. There's very little background noise around; however, this is an active farming community so do expect to see tractors, cows and sheep.

The well-kept accommodation field is looked after by the last remaining small-time independent farmer in the area, who keeps it looking smart with a manicured lawn and a growing selection of plants, trees and shrubs. Fields with sheep and cows surround the site field (the sheep wander freely along the local roads and visit the Redbrick yard from time to time, so keep the gate shut or they'll eat your awning).

Cycling, running and walking in the lowlands of the Malverns are popular ways to see the Hills, but you can drive almost to the top and then walk along the ridge for almost seven miles if you'd rather take things a tad easier.

After that, several local pubs serving good food, local beers and wines are nearby, and The Three Choirs and Lovells vineyards are a short drive away for wine tours and tasting sessions.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

This campground has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

No toilet facilities, luck with had one with us

From the manager...

No toilet Facilities is stated clearly in the pitchup ad, and it is also why we say no VW style camper vans. Motorhomes have toilet and showers fitted. VW day vans rarely do.
Good to hear you came prepared unlike some and didn't leave messages in the bushes for others to find.

    Owners were nice and friendly

    Disliked:

The location of the campsite is right on a busy road that gets ALOT of traffic going up and down it which makes it difficult for the kids to get to sleep and then they are waking up very early due to the noise.
The campsite has no toilets, showers, wash up points or play area for the children.
For £27 a night I think this is well over priced when all your in essence getting is an empty field.
I have stayed on many a campsite and for a field with electric hook up, no actual facilities, you would expect to pay anything from £10 to maybe £15 if the owners are being cheeky.
We stayed at a campsite in Wales just before this one and it had electric, showers, toilets, wash up area and that was £13 a night so to then go to somewhere for £27 a night with zero facilities is quite a pee take to be honest.
Also you get zero phone reception or 4g connection on the campsite and no WiFi is provided making it very challenging to get hold of anyone.
We ended up cutting our two week stay to just 2 nights due to this.

From the manager...

Thank you for leaving such a ridiculous review for someone who lives within 7 miles of our garden. Birts street is just over a single track wide road. On the occasion you were here, whilst you were supposed to be renovating your house and not on holiday, you would be well aware the main Gloucester to Worcester Road, one third of a Mile away was closed for repair on Sunday. Probably because of people complaining to the council that the surface was not perfectly flat and the diversion included our totally unsuitable road as there are no viable alternatives as we are very rural.
No we don't have, toilets, play area, wash up points as per Butlins just like the pitch up ad says which is exactly why we get a lot of fabulous reviews from people of a certain ilk who do not want a holiday camp environment.
Quite why you need a play area given you stated your kids are 0 and 1 I can only assume.
Regarding the cost we have not ever and not now charged 27 per night this is a blatant lie. We charge 20, 25, 30 depending on the season as i cant be bothered to carry change in my pocket if we raise prices by a few quid.
With regard to phone signal, 4g please complain to the powers to be as us rural residents are not considered equal to you town dwellers of ledbury, and the vast majority of our guests come here to unplug.
You gave your reason for leaving, as you could not manage the manual labour exertion renovating your house and had employed a contractor.
Further more, I have had complaints from other guests about the loud voices from within your van and the fact you imposed on a guest by giving the good willed gent your van keys and instructed him to give them to a stranger who hitched up and took your van.
The police have been informed of this bizarre behaviour. We are conscientious site owners and caravaners ourselves, the protection of people's property whilst on site is our highest priority.
Please don't come back and please do tell your peers all the things you hate about us so they don't come either.

Liked the rural location. Large flat well maintained hedged field with pitches around the perimiter. Friendly, welcome from owner. Nice Pub providing typical pub food at reasonableal prices within easy walk on site.

    Disliked:

Nothing, except the inconsideration of others gathering together on 2 evenings socialising in a group of 8 with their dogs, none on leads, and the dogs constanly barking and yapping and chasing each other, spoilt the quiet and tranquillity of a lovely summers evening.

From the manager...

Glad to hear you had a nice stay. Please remember that we live on site and are always available to deal with conflicts of interest if asked. See you again soon.

Absolutely everything. The owner was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Dogs are very welcome , too.
The grass pitches are even and the field is maintained to a lovely standard. How we were positioned we overlooked the hills.
To top it off there is a quaint pub just down the lane for a few drinks and a bite to eat.
We highly recommend Red Brick farm and will have no hesitation in returning.

Directions

Turn into Birts St from the B4208, the Malvern to Gloucester road. Redbrick Barn is on your left halfway down just after the grass verges get much wider. If you get to the Farmers Arms you have gone too far: turn round and go back towards the hills, and the site is then on your right just after the neighbours' farm entrance which has two big tractor tyre plant pots outside.

Do not approach the site via Longdon and Marsh lane even if your satnav says you can as you may meet a tractor on this tiny road.

Local attractions

This is a peaceful area, but you'll have no problem finding large-scale events close by, such as spring and autumn shows at the Three Counties Showground; gigs and concerts at Eastnor Castle, and numerous festivals throughout the year at Upton Upon Severn including jazz, folk and blues.

Take to the lowlands of the Malverns for cycling, walking and running, or to the waters of nearby Broad Oak Trout Lakes and Leigh Sinton Fishing for angling days. Worcestershire Golf Club is within a short drive.

Local microbreweries and the Three Choirs and Lovells vineyards with their tours and tasting sessions are also nearby; also pick up some mineral water bottled by the Holywell Malvern Spring Water company (locals collect it for free at British Camp).

Other attractions include Malvern town and its abbey, the Forest of Dean, Ledbury, Worcester and Gloucester.
