  • Family-run site in the Malvern Hills, a 10-minute drive from Ledbury
  • Eastnor Castle 10 minutes’ drive; Worcester half an hour
  • On-site fishing lakes; dogs on lead welcome; nearby hiking trails
Literally on the edge of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (cross the B4208, and you’re within the AONB), family-run Kings Green Caravan Park is part of a working farm a 10-minute drive from Ledbury. This is a spectacular patch of Worcestershire countryside, with gentle hills, fields dotted with sheep and arable land all around. All of which is an oblique way of saying that it’s pretty quiet around these parts and that your sleep should be undisturbed by traffic noise or noisy neighbours. With the Malvern Hills well within your sights, chances are you can’t wait to lace up your boots, and with several trails starting directly from the site, you’re in for many long days of exploration. Your dog (who’s welcome at the site, as long as you keep it on a lead) should also be happy with the exercise on these hikes, which might take you to places like Golden Valley nature reserve (about an hour on foot, or five minutes by car) – or to cosy country pubs like the one in Berrow (35 minutes’ walk or a five-minute drive). Hiking not your jam? Maybe you prefer a more sedentary pursuit? The site has two fishing lakes, where (for a small daily fee) you can try catching carp, roach and other species. There's a well-maintained toilet and shower block (plus facilities for disabled guests), a washing-up area and a launderette with tumble dryer and iron. Shower tokens are required to use the shower, and there's also a cash deposit required for the toilet and shower block keys. If you need to use the laundry or the washing-up area, you will also need to pay in cash.

Liked: Clean bathrooms.

Disliked: Not advised about token for shower on arrival, unable to use as only staying one night. Had to pay a deposit for bathroom keys, unable to get it vack as left site before the office opened. Left keys, sent a message, no response. Advised to take dogs off site for walking, busy road, no pavements. NOT DOG FRIENDLY!

From the manager: Thankyou for your stay. When you booked via pitch up it is stated in there regarding how much the shower tokens and toilet keys are this will be in your booking confirmation and on our advert on pitch up. Regarding your keys , we did reply to your email where you asked to collect the deposit on your way from Devon and we confirmed that this was no problem at all. There are multiple footpaths with in 100m of the entrance and there is a 2 m mowed strip of grass to walk up to the footpaths that will lead you to a quiet country lane or even the luxury of the Malvern hills .

All in all an adequate site. Ok for a one night stay.…

Liked: Lovely staff, site was very clean, beautiful surroundings and absolutely well maintained.

Disliked: Unfortunately there were loads of rules that we weren’t aware of i.e. no ball games. Also the site allows dogs but there is nowhere to walk them. Every gate leading to a field on site had a sign no dogs allowed. Going outside of the caravan park was a busy road with no footpath, loads of private farm fields with animals so if you have a big dog it’s a definite no.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind comments about our site and glad you enjoyed your stay however the few rules we have in place are to try and give all guests to kings green the best stay possible. Regarding dog walking dogs are to be kept on leads at all times due to it being a public place, gates with signs stating no dogs is because these fields are private farming fields with no public footpath. Outside of our site is a 2m mowed grass verge leading to multiple public footpaths which are approximately 100m from our entrance which lead you to the Malvern hills or quiet country lanes

Liked: Very peaceful site, even though there was a mix of couples and families. Very central to get to Malvern, Worcester, Ledbury and Gloucester. Shower blocks are kept spotless (showers 50p, tokens from reception) and the whole site is immaculately kept. Hubby loved the fishing which was £5 per day and our pitch was next to it so he didn't have far to walk with his stuff. Jill and her daughter make you feel really welcome and always willing to help. We liked it so much we stayed an extra night and will definitely be coming back soon. * No internet, but that didn't bother us.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about this site

Liked: Very clean toilet and shower block

Disliked: Very strange key system for the toilet block having to unlock and lock it again after use which needs a £5 deposit that you receive upon leaving There no facilities for children so I wouldn’t recommend for young children Ideal for caravaners who want a quite holiday but wouldn’t recommend for campers

Local attractions

The magnificent rooms of 19th-century Eastnor Castle (10 minutes’ drive) are hung with enormous chandeliers and adorned with portraits, rich tapestries and decorative objects. Herds of red deer inhabit the surrounding grounds, which also host medieval re-enactments, firework displays and other events. Stretching along the banks of the Severn, Worcester (half an hour) has a splendid 11th-century cathedral with a Gothic nave and colourful stained-glass windows. You can learn all about the city’s production of porcelain in the Museum of Royal Worcester, while the Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum has displays on the renowned local sauce. The cathedral in Gloucester (half an hour) is famed for its connection to Harry Potter (several film scenes were shot in the elegant cloister). The city, which is England’s most inland port, is also worth a visit for its Victorian docks, where former warehouses now shelter independent shops, lively cafes and institutions like the National Waterways Museum.
