  • Stylish glamping within the walled garden of a West Midlands estate
  • Fishing, sailing, golf and café on site; Dudley Zoo 10 mins' drive
  • Private bathroom and firepit for each unit, with no near neighbours
Couple of nights away at a smart country estate with its own golf course, fishing lake and art gallery? Such things aren’t just for the aristocracy – the accommodation at Himley Hall Glamping is open to all who’d like the chance to relax within the gorgeous grounds of this West Midlands estate 10 minutes’ drive from Dudley and 15 minutes from Stourbridge. The smart glamping units here are all tucked away within the two-acre woods inside the old walled kitchen garden, with plenty of space around each one so you never feel overlooked by your neighbours. Each one has been kitted out with a mix of modern and vintage furniture to create individual character and style. The exact contents of the unit differ, but what they all have in common is a double bed, storage facilities, bedside tables, comfy seating, battery-powered/solar lighting and rugs for underfoot cosiness. Each unit also has its own lockable bathroom (with toilet and shower), plus access to the two garden rooms with kitchenettes and phone charging as well as comfy seating, books and board games. There's a firepit outside each unit and a shared barbecue area with picnic benches. The main hall has a café too, or you may like to seek out the cabin near the golf course for snacks and refreshments. Filling your days should be easy enough here, whether you choose to stick around on site for fishing, sailing, golf and woodland walks or head out to local attractions such as Dudley Zoo and Kinver Edge.

Local attractions

There’s plenty to occupy you during time spent on site, including woodland walking trails, a gorgeous 18-hole golf course and a fishing lake that also holds sailing courses from time to time. As well as the café, the main hall is also home to an art gallery and museum. Take a short walk through the park and you’ll get to Baggeridge Park, which has a play area and a high ropes adventure course. For more local walks, head to Bratch Locks (five minutes’ drive) to stroll along the canal path, or take a trip to Kinver Edge (15 minutes) to see the rock houses built into the hillside. A walk around Halfpenny Green Vineyard (10 minutes) is a rewarding one too, as it usually ends in a bit of wine tasting or a good meal in the restaurant. Other attractions nearby include Dudley Zoo and the Black Country Living Museum (both 10 minutes), which make great days out for the kids. Bridgnorth (20 minutes) is also a good bet for a ride on England’s oldest electric funicular and/or the heritage trains of the Severn Valley Railway.

2 bedroom apartment (four person)

Liked: The apartment was in an old building, it was a really nice apartment, Belinda was the nicest most friendly host of any place I've visited, she would do anything to make sure your stay was a happy one. It's in a lovely area, lots and lots of places to visit in the nearby areas. If I go back to the West Midlands I would definitely stay here again.

Disliked: Nothing

Star Wars geodesic dome (four person)

Liked: What an amazing few days away. We received a text the day before to check on any requirements and arrival time. On the day or arrival, we were greeted by Jessica and Patrick, who showed us to our Star Wars dome. Which was amazing, a double bed and 2 singles which were very comfortable. There was also a firepit and wood provided. We were also shown to our private lockable toilet and shower room. We were then shown to a games room with plenty of games provided and then to a kitchen where there was a kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge, plates cups cutlery, etc. Also provided are two barbecues. A pot wash area and drinking water. We could have literally turned up with just our clothes. The whole experience was amazing and will be returning again. Thank-you.

From the manager: We were so lucky to have such a wonderful family as our very first guests on our new site. So helpful with their feedback and lots of fun to host. Lee and his family are experienced glampers and reassured us that we are getting it right! Looking forward to seeing them again next season! Thanks guys!
