  • Well-maintained, family-friendly park next to Hatton Country World
  • A 10-minute drive to Warwick Castle and 20 to Stratford-upon-Avon
  • Laser tag, petting farm, inn, shopping village and garden centre
Have a break at Hatton Camping, right next door to Hatton Country World, and get easy access to an ace array of family-friendly attractions – from the boutiques in the shopping village to the kid-focused entertainment at Adventure World. Laser tag, a petting farm, an escape room and an 18th-century coaching inn are just some of the other fab things to test out a few minutes’ walk from the park, while more Warwickshire sightseeing spots – such as Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon (20 minutes’ drive) and Warwick Castle (10 minutes) – are also a cinch to reach. Pottering along in the countryside is possible from the park as well, including to the Hatton Locks on Grand Union Canal (45 minutes’ walk), nicknamed the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ as it’s the longest flight of locks in Europe. A word of warning if you’re planning on heading further afield, however: you might not be able to lure your partner away from the garden centre or the kids from Hatton Country World’s 100 acres’ worth of entertainment, including 450 creatures of 60 different breeds and species. There are also more than 30 shows and activities held daily during holidays and on the weekends. There are toilets and showers on site, but take note that the showers are open between 8am and 10am only, and again between 6pm to 7pm (outside of this time, speak to the site wardens).

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Flat pitches, cars by tents

Disliked: Facilities are extremely basic. Portaloos and one sink that drains into the hedge. If it's dry and there's not many others there it would be fine but when it's busy you have to queue and if it's raining there's no cover at all. Also there were no rules about being quiet in the evening so there was a lot of noise including groups playing music singing and arguing. Some pictures are from other attractions which aren't part of the site. Would be fine for one night on the way to somewhere else if it's dry but won't be back for anything more than that.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Flat pitch.

Disliked: Porta Loo’s - filthy! Absolutely disgusting and with no sanitiser in them and a lack of toilet roll. No lighting in them so of a night time if you do dare to use the portaloos and take a torch in with you, you are literally swarmed on by moths and midges the second you walk through the door! Showers - limited to an hour time slot to service the entire campsite in the morning and in the evening, literally wooden shacks with plastic roofing over the top, if anyone else is showing at the same time then good luck getting any hot water or a consistent temperature! Lighting - None. Washing Up Area - Completely outdoors with no shelter, and ZERO hot running water - unsure whether you are only able to get hot water during the hour time slot given for the use of showers?! But all the same having no hot water to wash dirty and greasy dishes was just ridiculous! Having stayed at other campsites not far from here, given the site is situated at a nice little shopping village which is all part and parcel of it, we found this to be very over priced in comparison, with very little to offer campers unless of course you are going there purposely to explore their shopping village and other attractions - however as a 1 night stop off that was more than enough for us. Noise levels from large crowds on the site were loud and didn’t stop until much before midnight, therefore not a great nights sleep ahead of a big day out planned. We didn’t see or meet anyone who worked at the site, thus no meet or greet or any information about the site and the locations of anywhere. Honestly, for what we paid, no electric whatsoever, poor ‘facilities’ (I say that very loosely as not sure they can even be classed as that?!) bad lighting, high noise levels until late, limited shower times, no hot running water for washing dishes, disgusting toilets you can pay an extra £2 and stay somewhere else a hell of a lot nicer and just commute to this site to explore their shopping village and whatever else they do.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Easy to locate, large pitches

Disliked: Pretty much everything else. Zero lighting not limited as advertised. Toilets and shower are not enclosed or lit and only on for certain time periods, which we had to be told by a fellow camper as no one was around to tell us nor was there any signs around. Other facilities were very poor, we didn't bother using them. Instead choose to leave for good and find somewhere else, which we did 15 minutes down the road and was 10x better for only £3 extra a night. After 10 years of camping this is the worse site we've been too.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Absolutely amazing stay! Very clean and beautiful surroundings! Very helpful and friendly people who worked there! Loved the showers and the access to the fridge and freezer! Only thing I would change is to add more toilets (not ports loos) as when it is busy on the weekend could queue to use them! I was nervous as a first time camper but will 100% be coming again!

Disliked: Drinking water was not very nice but easily fixed by buying bottled water!

Liked: It was a pleasure to stay the weather was a bit rubbish but that’s camping in England for you lol. The site was clean tidy and very friendly, with a friendly team greeting us when we arrived. The pitches were very generous and we had lots of space. Over all I’d say a 8 out of 10 for the overall site. It was really good value for money and the location was great. A really nice and affordable place to stay.

Disliked: Nothing really

Local attractions

It’s very unlikely you’ll be hearing the dreaded words ‘I’m bored’ from the kids while staying at this site, but there are a few other places to add to your agenda if you’re after activities that are a little more cultural. One of these is Stratford-upon-Avon (20 minutes’ drive) with its Shakespeare-themed amusements, including the former cottage of the bard’s wife and the Swan Theatre, which hosts plays by the Royal Shakespeare Company on the River Avon’s banks. Another handsome town that’s easy to access is the Regency-era Royal Leamington Spa. Wander the wide boulevards in search of the colonnade-covered Royal Pump Rooms – a 19th-century bathhouse turned into the Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum – or go off on a jaunt around Jephson Gardens’ pristine floral displays and tropical glasshouse (20 minutes). More history is to be had at Warwick Castle (10 minutes), one of the UK’s finest medieval structures and a hit with younger as well as older sightseers. Kids who are less keen on the past and more into creepy-crawlies, meanwhile, might prefer strolling around the Stratford Butterfly Farm (20 minutes).
