  • Warwickshire touring park with serviced pitches across five acres
  • A mile from Market Bosworth; 10 mins' drive from Bosworth Battlefield
  • A short walk from walks and wildlife in Market Bosworth Country Park
Want a worthy Warwickshire break, where all you can hear when you wake is the sound of birds warbling? Hither thee to Bosworth Caravan Park in Nuneaton, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and near the battle site of Bosworth Field where Richard III took – and lost – his last stand. It’s a short saunter from here to the lovely Market Bosworth Country Park, with wildlife walks, arboretum and fishing at the Bow Pool, and 10 minutes to the ancient town of Market Bosworth, winner of several Britain in Bloom competitions. Well, the Wars of the Roses did finish nearby… The grass and hardstanding pitches at Bosworth Caravan Park are for touring caravans and motorhomes, set in an almost-level five acre field. Pitches come with electric hook-up and there are taps and chemical disposal on site. There are no worries either for those who don’t like olde worlde standards when camping, as the park is kept to spotless standards all over. For modern munching, the restaurant of Bosworth Hall Hotel is around 800 metres away; there’s an indoor pool and a spa too for splashing and steaming. There are plenty of other eating options in town too, including a couple of takeaways for lazy evenings back at base and some fab restaurant for when you fancy something smarter. (It's worth spending a bit of time wandering around the shops too – there are lots of little independent places to check out.)

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site (large)

Liked: Very clean and well kept site. Close to a delightful Market Bosworth Town which is interesting and quaint. We were fortunate to see the steam engines of different sizes passing through. We can recommend the Zimla Indian restaurant.

Disliked: We didn't receive an email informing us of the gate number or pitch number, had to ring number on the gate to gain entry, lady very pleasant told us gate number and pitch number. There wasn't any other information given to us such as elsan point, shower block etc. We were there for 3 nights and never saw anybody that was anything to do with the site. Very poor customer service. Had to ask Gardner questions.

Fully-serviced concrete and grass caravan site (large)

Liked: Very clean and tidy. Toilets and showers spotless, well equipped and warm. Beautiful location and whole site superbly maintained.

Disliked: Road noise from very fast high powered cars from Market Bosworth along A447 behind the site. Also there was no mention in the reviews of the low flying airliners on a flight path from East Midland Airport, all night long. Lots of long stay huge 5th wheel caravans on site and the people were very unfriendly!!

Liked: Staff / owner were so welcoming and friendly. He told us straight away where we’d find a great dog walk. Miles to wander in lovely setting. Toilets/showers are all in one which is great. Your own bathroom is nicer than cubicles. Grounds very well kept. Pitch was flat and surrounded by hedging. Great site in a great location.

Disliked: We hadn’t realised the rugby club over the road from the site was hosting its Annual summer shin dig. The music continued until after 2am. Then the revellers took an hour to leave. No sleep at all. The music was so loud we felt like we were on the dance floor. I’m not adverse to people enjoying themselves and in fairness the tunes were pretty good! I just wasn’t expecting this and after a day of travelling we just wanted to sleep! In no way was this the fault of the site. I think in general it’s probably very quiet. We definitely wouldn’t book the first weekend in July again though. I wish there was notification on the booking page to alert you to the fact there would be noise. I realise that this would put people off and the site might loose money. We paid to lie awake all night. We left early the next morning. Again just to reiterate this noise is not the fault of the campsite. We just picked the wrong weekend to stay.

Local attractions

The centre of Market Bosworth is a conservation area and has heaps of old buildings to see around its market place; Bosworth dates back to 1048 and has had a Royal Charter for its market since the seventeenth century. There’s still a weekly market on Wednesdays, with a farmers’ market held every month, and the town is also known for its galleries and antiquery geekery; The Clock Shop in The Square has antique barometers and long case clocks to covet. Bosworth Water Trust is within wandering distance of the town centre, with a 20-acre lake for watersports and fishing and taster sessions/private lessons on offer for anyone wanting to get to grips with canoeing, sailing or windsurfing. Once you’ve damply tired yourself out, have a seat on the Battlefield Line: this nineteenth-century railway is still steaming through the heart of England, with a stop at Bosworth en route from Shackerstone to Shenton. Slightly further afield towards Tamworth, go loopy on the rides and eyeball the animals at Drayton Manor Theme Park, or slide down the slopes on skis or snowboards at the indoor snow slope SnowDome; you might also enjoy gibbering at the gibbons at Twycross Zoo. But you can’t go to Bosworth and not explore the demise of Richard 3 with a trip to the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and Country Park… Among the many highlights here are trying your skills as an archer, donning armour to find out how heavy it is (very) and hearing about the gruesome facts of medieval warfare. One the kids will like, then…You can reach Warwick Castle easily from here too, which should be a big hit with little historians with its re-enactments, dressing up and daily shows.
