Campsite with a view

  • Sizeable pitches on a Shropshire farm with Ceiriog Valley views
  • Direct access to the Offa’s Dyke Path; 25 mins' drive to Llangollen
  • Honesty shop on site; pubs and shops 10 minutes’ drive
Long-distance walkers, listen up. Offa’s Dyke Farm Campsite is right off (yes, you guessed it) Offa’s Dyke Path on the border of England and Wales. You can head straight from the trail onto the camping field for an overnight stop, or use the site (only a 10-minute drive from the A5) as your base for exploring the area. The family-friendly, four-acre grass site is on a working farm overlooking Ceiriog Valley and Chirk Castle. Children have an enclosed field to run around in safely, and there are toys and games to occupy them while adults kick back and relax. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and you'll be able to come face to face with farm animals too, as sheep and cows are in all the surrounding fields and chickens roam around too. There's something of a wild-camping vibe here – simple facilities include a compost toilet and a hot shower so you can freshen up and relax after a long day’s walk. A few extras are available, including firepits to hire and fresh produce sold straight from the farm. There's also an honesty shop based in their cattle trailer. The nearest shop to stock up on essentials is in Chirk (10 minutes’ drive) and there are numerous welcoming pubs within a 10-minute drive offering good local food and ale.

Liked: Great views from the campsite over the Oswestry area towards chirk. We were lucky enough to be there on the campsite family birthday so there wasa bouncy castle for the children to use, as well as field games im assuming are there year round. Friendly sheep greated us from the field. Nice for the kids

Disliked: Not a dislike just a heads up for the "modern family "... toilets are non flushing. More, throw some word chippings on top after use. And take your own drinking water. There is a drinking water water barrel type dispenser but save yourself the bother incase its busy.

Liked: A warm welcome to a small, rural & rustic campsite with fine views. We loved watching the moon rise over the hill, the proximity to Offa's Dyke Path, and ease of access by car to nearby towns - Chirk & Llangollen. The campsite cleverly uses an old trailer for its honesty shop with all essentials for sale, plus a range of toys and games, etc. to borrow. Well thought-out, da iawn! p.s. if you bring your dog, make sure it's sheep proofed as you're within a working farm.

Liked: Amazing view, great simple set up with the honesty shop having everything you forgot. Nice hot showers.

Disliked: Echo other people's point on signage. A few more arrows after the farm buildings would be useful.
