All bets are on for a brilliant time at Ludlow Racecourse, a fab choice for folk fond of having a flutter on the horses. Not that you need to be an equestrian expert to stay here – it’s also a popular place for using as a base to shuffle around these rural Shropshire surrounds. Ludlow, a top town with a regular farmers’ market and your gateway to wanders in the Welsh Marches, is a 10-minute drive away. On a practical level, having Ludlow so close to base is also handy as the town is home to supermarkets, restaurants and a railway station. The cycling’s also excellent around here, so hop into the saddle for rides through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the edges of which are accessible in about 25 minutes by bike (or 10 minutes by car). Well-behaved dogs are allowed to stay on the grounds here, so you can relax while your fave animal sits by your side at your well-maintained pitch. Please note that Ludlow Racecourse has a clean and tidy toilet block, but guests will need to look elsewhere for shower facilities.

Quiet rural spot at Ludlow Racecourse. Clean loos, loads of room, great views. Handy for Ludlow, golf club, farm shop. Watch out for the train line's racket – earplugs a must! A bit tricky to find on arrival, and no showers.

Liked We had a lovely stay at Ludlow Raceway. The site has beautiful views and plenty of open space, so it feels really peaceful and spacious. The toilets were also very clean and well maintained.

It’s in a great location too, being close to Ludlow Castle and the town, which made it really convenient for exploring the area.

Disliked The only downside is that the site is right next to an active railway line, so there are trains passing by. However, we already knew this before staying and it didn’t bother us at all.

Liked WONDERFUL LOCATION AT LUDLOW RACECOURSE WITH FAR REACHING VIEWS.
CLEAN AND EFFIECIENT TOILETS AND WASH BASINS-PLENTY OF HOT WATER.

Disliked POOR SIGNAGE TO SITE-INFACT NO SIGNAGE AS FAR AS I COULD SEE.
ONLY SEEING ANOTHER VAN ALREADY PARKED GAVE US A CLUE!
NO SUGGESTED PARKING POSITIONS.
SOME ROAD NOISE-NOT ENOUGH TO CONCERN US AND FREQUENT TRAINS GOING BY IN THE DAYTIME BUT THEY STOPPED AT NIGHT

Liked Easy access to grass area and able to arrive in the morning which was a real bonus for us. Very clean toilet and a nice walk into Ludlow and a farm shop with restaurant less than 1/2 mile away.

Disliked The train line is very close and did wake me up a few times, so take ear plugs.
