  • Camping pods with far-reaching views over the Long Mynd
  • Between Craven Arms and Church Stretton; Ludlow 25 minutes' drive
  • Cosy interiors with ensuite, outdoor dining area and gas heating
Set in the very centre of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Mynd View Pods is a peaceful place for glamping breaks between Craven Arms and Church Stretton. The local area is full of relaxing outdoor pursuits from horse riding to cycling – or you could just sit back and relax in your outdoor seating area and take in the views over the gorgeous Long Mynd ridge over dinner. Surrounded by a 54-acre family farm where red kites circle overhead, each pod is fully self-contained and well-equipped to host parties of up to four. The inside is spacious (the pods are six metres long and three metres wide) and kitted out with an ensuite toilet and shower, a flatscreen TV, a kitchenette with lots of cooking equipment and full gas central heating for those chillier nights. There's also atmospheric exterior lighting to create cosy vibes in the evening and an alfresco dining area to help you maximise your time in the open air. Handily, each pod comes with its own parking space. Cafés, pubs, food shops and railway stations can be found in the market towns Craven Arms and Church Stretton, both of which are 10 minutes' drive from base. The nearest local pub and restaurant, which the owners highly recommend, is under two miles away.

Local attractions

Owing to its location close to the border between England and Wales, this part of the world is home to a number of stunning historic castles. Ludlow (25 minutes' drive) has one of the best-preserved medieval ruins around, with great views over the surrounding Shropshire countryside, while ruins like Clun Castle (20 minutes) and Hopton Castle (also 20 minutes) both make great picnic spots. For further family-friendly days out, you could head to Ironbridge (45 minutes), home to historic industrial architecture, museums and other various riverside delights. For a living history experience, head to Blists Hill Victorian Town (45 minutes), where friendly folk from all walks of life will greet you 'in character' and in full Victorian garb. There are too many great walks, bike trails and bridleways to list them all here, but anyone up to doing eight or nine miles should try and squeeze in the circular walk around the Long Mynd and Carding Mill Valley (about 10 minutes): it takes in a waterfall, peaceful meadows and far-reaching views into West Wales.
