Powered grass tent site (large)

Liked: Location, facilities and maintenance of the camp site.

Disliked: Unfortunately there was no curfew at night or at least not managed. A large group unfortunately spoilt the weekend away with playing loud music, talking / shouting into the early hours.

Unpowered grass tent site (small)

Liked: - Quiet as out of season - On site bar - Well kept site - Fires allowed

Disliked: - No toilet roll provided or sold in the shop - Not the most helpful welcome just pointed to a pitch with no detail on facilities - Shower and toilet facilities aren’t great. The electric shower hose leaks so was a dribble, most of the toilets out of order - I can see the site would be very cramped if it got busy

Local attractions

Trail time? You might want to begin with the Roman Fosse Way, passing by the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (25 minutes' drive) and Moreton-in-Marsh (25 minutes). Or from Lechlade-on-Thames (half an hour), perhaps you'll roll right on to the Thames Path, if you’re not drawn into the water with watersports such as canoeing. Characterful towns and villages are a Cotswolds staple and it shows… Burford (15 minutes) is boxed full of unusual shops, pubs and tea rooms, while in Witney (20 minutes), you’ve got classic entertainment courtesy of a multi-screen cinema, shops and leisure centre mixed in with markets and the historic Cogges Manor Farm. In Woodstock (15 minutes) there’s more history inside The Oxfordshire Museum. Like Chipping Norton (10 minutes), the place has a swimming pool, shops, pubs and tea rooms galore, to add to Chipping Norton’s theatre and cinema. Historic are many of the houses around here, and that includes the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blenheim Palace (15 minutes), the Jacobean Chastleton House (20 minutes) and or the 18th-century Buscot Park (35 minutes). For more activities in the throw of it all, there’s Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (25 minutes) and Bourton-on-the-Water’s equestrian centre, brewery and motoring museum (half an hour).
