Adventure play park
Adventure play park

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

What customers say

Great spot near the National Water Sports Centre & Notts. Plenty of space, flat pitches, and a family vibe. Clean loos and helpful staff are common praise, but some campers mentioned iffy ablutions & noise.

Liked Location.

Disliked Toilet and shower facilities filthy, no toilet roll in most of the cubicles. Facilities run down and in need of upgrade. Pitch was on a slope making it difficult and smaller usable area.

Liked Water sports are a good option

Disliked Toilets and showers very shabby and not being able to get in after 8pm meant we didn’t stay on our first night. Also we had booked a hard standing electric pitch as it was a trip for our son’s graduation and we didn’t want grass as would be in our outfits but you changed it to a grass pitch last minute.

Liked Spacious pitches, proximity to Water Sports Centre, park, relaxed atmosphere.

Disliked Wash facilities could do with a refurbishment, more shelves & basic cleaning equipment for campers to use, e.g. to wipe over floor after a shower. Could not find recycling bins on site but found some at waterspouts centre . Early bin collection on Monday morning & building works not ideal.

Liked The size of the pitch was good.

Disliked The rafters field drainage was very poor, we had some very bad rain and the puddles around the caravan were terrible our awning was completely flooded. The toilets were disgusting at times, I appreciate we were out in force but that should be taken into consideration and possibly an extra clean done. Doing work on the hard standing at this time of year wasn’t good, I requested to be on on the same grass pitch as last year, but it was full. I understand this can’t always be met, but maybe if the work wasnt going on during this very busy weekend it could have been met. We are a captive audience and choose the site for the obvious convenience to the rowing, would prefer to be nearer the top. The waste water point for rafters being out of use meant a trek up to the other field! Not good! Barrier closed at 8pm so despite booking an extra night so I had plenty time to pack up after racing, I was still rushing to be out by 8pm. Seems a little unfair, I wasn’t told this but did email asking about late checkout.
Suggestion:
It would be great if we could camp near each other as a club. As a coach it’s handy to have competitors close by, we are here to race so no parties and most with parents. A way to book so that we are closer together would probably be helpful to the clubs that choose to camp. For example being able to book kayak lane for a club would be great, then anyone wanting a pod can do that the rest in the grass. That type of offer would be great.
