Liked Found this via Pitchup for a last minute night away in the motorhome, and we’d recommend it to all from the hassle free check in, great location, good facilities, superb onsite cafe, lovely staff and more. Superb value for money too.
Special mention to the on site tackle shop staff member from today who helped a complete novice with great advice, helping recommend the right gear to purchase that soon lead to successfully catching his first fish within 30 minutes of trying! 🎣
He’s now completely obsessed and will be back soon to catch some more. 🐟

Fully-serviced gravel caravan site
Liked Not a lot to be honest. The site was well kept and tidy.
Disliked Pitches too close together, we felt uncomfortable. Unaware that fishing matches were held Thursday, Friday and Saturday until we arrived. This reduced options of pegs for the majority of our stay. Not enough toilets, showers for the number of pitches. Chef was off so only basket meals available in the evening. Bar/kitchen staff were very blasé about what could be offered with a “don’t care” attitude.
Big and busy, but quiet after 10pm
Powered grass site
Liked We liked the scenery around the fishing lakes, and the well serviced facilities. Plenty hot water and clean shower units.
Disliked It was quite busy and the vans were packed in quite tight. Most visitors seemed to be there for the fishing. But it was a hot summer weekend and people appear to really enjoy fishing, so good on them.

Liked We arrived after reception closed, but everything was straight forward, our pitch number and site map was left in a box outside reception.
The site was Lovely and welcoming, plenty of fishing ponds to choose from.
Cafe bar on site was reasonably priced, friendly staff too.
I was kind of dreading the state of the toilets after reading prev reviews.
With How busy the site gets & the ground been dry, of course there will be dirt on the floors from the water left from the showers mixing with the dry sludge. I think people seem to forget it’s impossible for a staff member to be there mopping up 24/7. I found them fine, ample loo roll and soap.
The site is situated perfectly to explore Retford.
If you go will kiddies visiting Kings Oak Park in the hot weather is A Must. Easily found through Google maps.
And paddling in the river on the outskirts of the camp is relaxing on a hot day.
Disliked The stay wasn’t Long Enough.

Liked Plenty of space for our two tents, felt like we have a private area and weren’t being to loud for those around us. Short distance to toilets/ showers and the restaurant on site

Disliked Looks beautiful as you arrive, however we were parked at the far end.
Far too many people packed in like sardines. No privacy, we could virtually touch the rigs next door. Lads walking right outside our van. Noise until late at night
Friendly staff and nice place to stay.

Liked Very nice and peaceful. Good water and electricity facilities. 20 minute walk into town to a very friendly pub.
