Paddock two sheltered by mature hedges

  • Large family-friendly pitches within 15 minutes' drive of beaches
  • A 15-minute drive to Cadwell Park Circuit; half an hour from Skegness
  • On a regular bus route to Louth, Lincoln and the coast; near the Wolds
Based in the pretty rural village of South Reston near Louth, Holme Lea makes a handy base for exploring the beaches and wolds of lovely Lincolnshire. Welcoming families and (well-behaved) canines, pitches are scattered across a four-acre site that's neatly divided into two well-maintained and level grass paddocks sheltered by high hedges. This is a handy spot to stay in if you want to ditch the car – Holme Lea sits at the foot of the gorgeous Lincolnshire Wolds, with abundant cycle and walking routes to try out. The local village of South Reston is on a main bus route too, so you can catch regular services to Louth and Lincoln, or seaside towns including Mablethorpe (15 minutes’ drive) and Skegness (half an hour). The village also has a popular local pub, which you can walk to in five minutes; as well as serving a decent pint, it has a small essentials shop if you happen to run out of supplies. For those who want to fish, there are also fisheries within five minutes' drive of the site. Simple on-site facilities include a toilet block, emptying point and various drinking water points around the pitches. There's also a shower room (with sink, toilet and shower) available for a small extra charge.

From the manager: Thank you very much for your positive feedback. I am puzzled regarding the comment about the electricity. You choose what you wish to put on your meter on arrival. If you want further credit adding to your card we are able to do this on request. Regards Louise

Power optional grass site

Liked: Very friendly and quiet site. Greeted on arrival made sure we was ok. Helped my husband set the tent up. Was there for 2 nights and £5 electric was enough. Walked to the pub (5mns)for food and wasn’t disappointed. Close to Mablethorpe and Skegness. Great at night for star gazing as no lights. Will Deffinatly return. Pitches were large and parked at the side. Toilets very clean

Disliked: Could of done with a couple more ladies toilets.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: From the moment we arrived at Holme the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The pitch was great for us a family who prefer a quiet area. With all the essentials you need. Toilet area is spacious and clean. Family shower room with a small fee of £2 is worth every penny, shower, sink and toilet in a nice clean space (one of the best I've used in all the years of different camp sites). We would definitely return as a family.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about Holme Lea

Liked: The campsite is lovely, you pick your own pitch which was good as the kids wanted to be near the nets haha. Got a great welcome from the owners/staff, and they said if we'd forgot anything to let them know as they have everything lol.

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Everything, the owners are amazing, welcoming and helpful. The site was very well maintained. The pub is 5 mins walk away and there was a stall a bit further on with fresh veg, fruit and eggs. Driving the site is central to the beach's and towns nearby, however there is a bus stop near the site. We would definitely stay again and would recommend, it's a lovely quiet site.

Disliked: Disliked nothing. Just to be aware there is only 1 ladies toliet and 1 shower at the moment.

From the manager: Hi Thank you very much for your review. Pleased to see you enjoyed our site and local area. From your comment regarding the toilet, I assume your stay was over bank holiday weekend. That weekend is the only time we ever have a short wait at peak times for the ladies toilet. This was because a lot of campers were in tents that weekend, the majority wanting to leave the site at a similar time to attend Cadwell Park Super Bikes weekend. We were monitoring things on site constantly and didn't see anymore than one or two people waiting at a time. Regards Louise

Unpowered grass site

Liked: Very welcoming hosts. Nice and flat ground. Well maintained. Not too large a site, so not over crowded.

Disliked: The use of generators by other campers. Left early as couldn’t tolerate the noise. With so many battery power stations now on the market I find generators to be an unnecessary and very anti social especially in such a nice quiet peaceful environment.

From the manager: Thank you very much for leaving Holme Lea Caravan & Camping a positive review. We appreciate this. I am disappointed to note your comment regarding a generator being used on site. We do not allow generators. Despite us doing regular walk rounds we were told of one being used in the top paddock one evening and spoke to those campers straight away.. Not sure if this was the same incident or not. Our site is peaceful and quiet and we do not want this disturbed by generators. Regards Louise
