  • Quiet, well-maintained glamping site on the edge of Ragdale
  • National Space Centre and Belvoir Castle within 25 minutes' drive
  • Luxury pods with ensuite shower, kitchenette and bedding provided
Lovely Leicestershire countryside meets luxury living at Ragdale Glamping, a smart site on the edge of the village of Ragdale. This is a splendid rural site spread over 2.5 acres of quiet open space, but it’s also well placed for all sorts of days out including trips to Leicester, Nottingham and attractions like Belvoir Castle and Twinlakes Park. And of course there’s the rather swish Ragdale Hall Spa just up the road if you’d like to treat yourselves to a bit of pampering while you’re here. There’s plenty of space to relax on site here too – all the pods are set up next to the top fishing pond, with views out over the water, and there are grass pathways around the ponds for gentle strolls to take in the scenery. Picnic tables and benches are dotted around the place so you can choose your spot for alfresco meals or drinks. Those meals and drinks can be easily prepared too, as each pod has a full kitchenette with kettle, microwave and cooking equipment provided. Other facilities include a smart TV, comfortable beds and a smart ensuite shower room. Bedding and towels are provided too, along with wifi, so you can afford to travel light here and don’t have to worry about bringing lots of stuff with you. Hot tubs are available here (check the pitch type of the unit you are interested in to see whether this is included in the price or available as an extra, subject to availability).

Local attractions

Up the treat factor while staying here with a day at Ragdale Hall Spa (10 minutes’ walk) or maybe a heritage-filled ride on the Great Central Railway (15 minutes’ drive), the only place in the world where you can see two steam trains running side by side or passing each other on the double track. If you’ve got something more high-energy in mind, try the rides, animal displays and waterpark at Twinlakes Park (20 minutes) or a day of cheering on your chosen horse at Leicester Racecourse (half an hour). Other outings are easy to find too, with something for all tastes. History lovers may like to visit Belvoir Castle (25 minutes) or the King Richard II Visitor Centre (25 minutes), while families and those with more of an inclination towards science visit the National Space Centre or Retro Computer Museum (both 20 minutes).

Ash 2 bedroom camping pod (pet friendly, hot tub)

Liked: Absolutely amazing, loved our stay at the Ash Cabin. Lovely view (cows & sheep) facilities were spot on and very clean. Cosy and perfect for a girls holiday. Hot tub was incredible, we will definitely be returning and recommending the place to all our family and friends. Thank you for having us.

Disliked: Not a dislike but would recommend adding some fairy lights around the decking for when sat outside in the evenings, just to give that extra bit of light.

Ash 2 bedroom camping pod (pet friendly, hot tub)

Liked: Everything! The whole experience was amazing. They had thought of everything. We enjoyed the hottub, the quite setting and I truly enjoyed the fishing. A wonderful lake on the door step, I also managed to catch their biggest fish (8lb common carp)

Disliked: We can't really think of anything.
