Pub

  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

Liked Nice pitch. Cheap electric. Chilled.

Disliked Was great they had new facilities. But always seemed to be dirty and empty of toilet paper etc. just not a great set up I terms of practical facilities. Would have been good to have people checking pitches and guests as I've night there was a particularly loud first that kept many people up till the small hours. Manual luck on gate.

Liked The showers and toilets were clean and renovated.

Barbecues are allowed on site.

Disliked The pitches are very small and packed closely together. Unfortunately, we ended up next to a couple who were playing loud music until midnight, then started singing loudly while everyone else was trying to sleep. In the morning, we were woken up by the sound of them having sex, not sure why they felt the need to be that loud.
Because of the constant noise and disturbance, we were barely able to sleep at all and it genuinely ruined the night for us.
There’s also not much to do around the site, no proper walking trails or places to visit nearby.

I would suggest that, since you allocate specific pitches, you clearly mark each pitch with something physical or visible. At the moment it is not clear, and some people end up taking much more space than others, while others are left with very tight spots.
Also, I think you should make the “quiet hours at night” rule clearer and actively enforce it, reminding guests to respect others. This would help prevent a few people from disturbing everyone else and ruining their stay.

So promising, sadly wouldn’t recommend or return.

Power optional concrete and grass caravan site

Liked Nothing to add here.

Disliked The disgusting toilet/shower block, new but definitely not cleaned daily. Dogs on 3 occasions were allowed to go into the toilets and into the actual showers. No cleaning facilities for people to use after shower to help keep clean.
Ran out of toilet roll day 2 into a 3 night break and not replenished until leaving day 4.
Pitches allocated but site allowed people to park where they wanted.
Elsan and pot wash areas disgusting to use.
Overflowing dog poo bin next to the bar garden, in the heat the whole beer garden stank of poo.
No warden so to speak so people were feral!

Liked Location is superb for exploring nearby areas. Campsite is behind a pub and it's quiet. Nicely shaded from the sun as most pitches are next to high hedge. Brand new toilet/shower block. Very clean.

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as a historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills National Landscape, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
