  • Peaceful, dog-friendly farm site two miles from Moreton-in-Marsh
  • A 10-minute drive to Sezincote Estate; half an hour to Blenheim Palace
  • Firepits for hire; walks, cycling and pubs nearby; barbecues allowed
Step into the splendid Gloucestershire countryside and set up camp just two miles from the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With Pebbly Barn Farm as your base, fab far-reaching views are a given, as is a warm welcome into a peaceful retreat where well-behaved dogs are welcomed on leads and adventures in the Cotswolds are within easy reach… Once you’ve pitched up your tent in the roomy fields here, set off on the walking and cycling trails in the surrounding area (some of them begin very close by). You could make off to Moreton-in-Marsh's antique emporiums, tearooms, art galleries and delis, half an hour’s walk away, or time your visit right for the town’s Tuesday open-air market. With the Four Shire Stone on the outskirts of the town, another option is standing in the old meeting point of the four counties of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire (cool, huh?) There's also plenty of scopes for tasty dinnertimes, with cafés, restaurants and pubs (including a couple rumoured to be past haunts of the author J.R.R. Tolkien) on the town high street and barbecues permitted on site (on a proper stand to protect the grass). As for when the sun goes down, there are firepits for hire on site. The facilities here include toilets, showers and a handy dishwashing area, all close to the peaceful pitches. And though it may be rural, you won't be cut off here as Moreton-in-Marsh’s train station has routes to London and Cheltenham and bus services go to many Cotswold towns and villages.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: We absolutely loved the site, a great location, a short to drive to some great local places, the site wasn’t overly full when we arrived so we had plenty of space to choose from to pitch up, the toilets and showers (hot running water) were a complete bonus and kept meticulously clean and tidy. The owner John was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Overall we had a fantastic stay and will book again.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked: Everything! The whole stay was easy and lovely from start to finish. The hosts were friendly, the facilities spotless and the field perfectly looked after. Moreton-In-Marsh is just around the corner and has plenty of shops and places to eat.

Disliked: My only suggestion for improvement would be a freezer for ice blocks for longer holidays here, but the lack thereof would absolutely not put me off staying here again as the shop is only 8 minutes away so getting shopping daily is not a problem.

Liked: Beautiful grounds which are kept immaculate. Great toilet and shower facilities. Super clean. John does a fabulous job and is a lovely gent. Close drive to gorgeous pubs and restaurants in Morton-in-marsh. Lovely day trip and mooch around Stow-on-the-Wold which isn’t far away.

Liked: Easy to find and exactly as described. Wash areas and toilets were clean and well lit. The grass on the tent pitches was trimmed and level making it easy to pitch up. We were greeted on arrival. Did exactly what we needed it to.

Liked: Our three-day stay at Pebbly Barn Farm was nothing short of spectacular! Just a ten-minute drive from the picturesque village of Stow-on-the-Wold, the farm is nestled in the tranquil village of Moreton-on-Marsh. The meticulously maintained grounds provide ample space, ensuring you never feel crowded by other campers. The facilities are immaculate, well-lit, and modern, offering every comfort. As first-time campers, my wife was initially apprehensive about the experience. However, Pebbly Barn Farm has completely won her over. John, the owner, went above and beyond each day to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. He is a true gentleman, whose efforts greatly enhanced our visit. Thank you, John. We can’t wait to visit again!

Local attractions

Where can a 10-minute car ride get you? It turns out, a lot of places. There’s the dog-friendly plant centre and café at the 56-acre Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre (10 minutes’ drive), flying displays from falcons, eagles and other birds of prey at the Cotswold Falconry Centre (10 minutes) or the splendid 18th-century gardens at Bourton House Garden (10 minutes). Sezincote House (10 minutes) is another of those close-by spots and a rare authentic Mughal palace with a house and tea room – get there on foot if you wish by following the local Moreton Eight walk near the site. With the World Heritage Site of Blenheim Palace (half an hour) and the National Trust’s Chastleton House (10 minutes) close by too, there are many more options to have a nose around additional historic buildings. When you’re ready for some animal life, Cotswold Farm Park’s rare breeds, outdoor play and bouncy pillows (20 minutes) are likely to be a hit with the kids, or perhaps a peaceful picnic by the river Windrush in Bourton-on-the-Water (20 minutes) will do, with Birdland the prize attraction here.
